I'm sure 790 is going to market his show using the standard, predictable and cliched "you love him or you hate him" narrative, but that's giving him too much credit. It implies that if you hate him, well, you just don't get him. No, that's not the reason I hate him. I hate him because he knows nothing about sports and is really just an untalented wanna-be shock jock who brings absolutely nothing interesting or entertaining to the table.
It seems like this is the trend in everything. Integrity counts for nothing, outrageousness counts for everything. Kardashians, FAUX, Reality TV, Gun's and Ho's rap, The GOP dominated by stupid, Breibart... just get the clicks, the eyeballs to get your ad revenue. The other side is paying for content where some real quality resides. Look who wins the Emmy's, very few are tied to advertising.
Adam Clanton and Matt Thomas are big Rockets fans. They know a lot and speak on it any chance they can get. 610 still has nobody I can think of that even watches basketball.
Well NBA season hasn't started yet. He is the biggest Warriors hater, I enjoy his takes on the Rockets. Keeps it real, you can tell he's a super fan of the team.
As someone who has met Innis on a personal basis quite a few times, he's a really nice guy. Completely opposite of his radio persona. That being said his radio personality sucks, and is pretty much unlistenable.
Yeah a superfan that doesn't know **** about the team or follow the rest of the NBA. At least Charlie was honest. Adam is just a homer that will blow smoke up your ass like Bill Worrell. I'd like someone to ask him who Tyler Ennis is and what team he plays for.
lol. He is very pro Rocket but will diss them if the team is down. He also talks about other teams from time to time. Charlie is a wiz with his knowledge but no way in hell can you tell me he wasn't the biggest HOUSTON hater. He always throws jabs at the teams / players. Charlie >>> Iness. I guess 790 wanted to stir up the pot for ratings. This is all entertainment / business.
I thought that at first when I really started listening to him around the Steve Francis days and would get steamed but over time I could see he just called it like it was with no bias or hatred towards Houston teams.
This is not true. Charlie was not a Houston sports hater. He was the most realistic and pragmatic guy just calling a spade a spade. We have enough homers around. He was refreshing to hear from a different perspective. Perhaps he came off as a hater to you compared to the other kool aiders on radio? Come on man. He praised Houston teams when necessary and called them for what they were most times.
Pressure the Rockets and the Astros. 790 as "home" of both will do their will. Both have to know this scumbag will now be representing their organizations by proxy. Write Rockets/Astros PR, write to Morey, write everyone over at both teams. Which by the way are very diverse teams with many different cultures.
Just don't listen to him in the off season. Problem solved. Haven't turned on sports radio since last seasons nightmare. Oh wait are we trashing all 790 hosts now even if we like them? In that case screw matt thomas and adam clanton. 790 management is obviously desperate to try anything. hopefully they jump from that sinking ship.
I still like Clanton. I think he mails it in sometimes. Just find it funny when he started doing Astros post game show, because I remember him saying he didn't care for baseball too much.
drinking game- take a sip every time clanton says 'fantastic' you will be wasted in minutes. as for pennis..well he is your typical white privileged lousiana poser. they are all fat for some reason. lots try hards, dime a dozen like him from the that area. unfortunately tend to end up in houston. kappa alpha or sigma alpha epsilon comes to mind.
Anybody who thinks Charlie "hates" Houston sports is completely demented. The guy has been in the market for over 20 years. Very few media members across all formats (tv, radio, newspaper) matched him in longevity. He's been revered by any of the coaches, GM's, former players, current players that have weekly interview spots with him... the guy does his homework, actually watches all the games, and provides as unbiased yet still educated view on everything that is Houston sports. That being said, ratings drives everything... and idiots love idiots... so if the average sports talk listener would rather here dick and fart jokes while commenting on social media happenings/pop culture, mixed in with very little sports-talk, lets gooooooo!
Ditto...CP was a realist and I guess people couldn't handle that..still shocked he got fired I listened to him on the way back home from work everyday. Can't believe a guy like Josh Innes got his spot. I really hope someone picks up CP in Houston.
