I hate Innes with the burning passion of a thousand suns. Just having him back in this market in any capacity (even as the traffic guy) is a giant "L" for the city. I'd rather listen to 8 straight hours a day of Rich Lord, John Lopez, and Barry Warner than 5 minutes of that racist turd sandwich of a radio host. Here's hoping Innes finally takes down a radio station with his antics this time. 790 needs this karmic justice in the worst way, especially after tossing Charlie aside. 790 preset... REMOVED. (Such a shame, too, considering I really like MT and even SportsRV.) I guess it's all Texans Communist Radio (610) and Spotify from here on out...
Been listening to Charlie since 97. This sucks. Innes is terrible. Bet he loves seeing his name all over this thread.
This kind of sucks. I admit Charlie was getting a bit cranky like others have said, but I'd still rather listen to him than most others on the radio. I honestly think he was a lot worse coming from up north when he started. He actually mellowed out a bit. lol. I listened to his first broadcast in Houston back in the 80's and thought he was a dweeb back then. I quickly realized he was one of the few guys who treated his job like a job or career. I also quickly respected the fact a lot of his takes were grounded in facts instead of just some typical sportsbar banter between a couple of sports dorks acting like GM's. I've never listened to Josh Innes, but I'll give it a try, I guess. Although if the dude's a racist, I'm pretty much leaning towards finding some podcasts to listen to or something. Man, this sucks if Pallilo is off the airwaves ...
Innes is an IRL troll. You have to treat just like you would treat an online troll. Do not feed him. Don't give him the chance.
I have honestly shut off my radio more times than I can count on the drive home after saying 'Oh for God's sake, shut the F up, Charlie!' after he has said yet another relentlessly negative thing about one of the Houston teams. I mean, ok being objective is one thing, be he goes out of his way to be negative. ALL of the other shows on 790 are more enjoyable to me than CP. His shtick had gotten stale, and frankly he has been phoning it in for years now. A change of scenery will do him some good I think. Now having said that, I have never heard even one second of this Innes guy, but I certainly have never heard anything good from any of you guys, and I remember this thread from back when he was fired and went to the other city. I'll at least give a listen, but it doesn't sound hopeful.
Charlie Pallilo was the only non-idiot on Houston radio. It's really a sad commentary on the city of Houston that Innes will likely get better ratings. And I never thought of him as overly negative of Houston teams. Really I always thought he hyped them up a bit too much. I mean I heard him mention the Astros in the World Series several times this year. I also remember him saying he wanted to see the Rockets play against the Warriors in last year's playoffs because he thought we had a chance. That's as homerish as it gets.
Did they talk about the hiring of "Looks like he smells" guy or say anything about Charlie's firing? First time I haven't turned them on in the AM in a long time. I even re-upped with Sirius yesterday for $5 a month for 12 months, and this includes the internet app with Stern and all sports. They're desperate.

Long story short: Innes is polarizing - MT Pleasure to work with CP, he'll land on his feet MT got a lot of hate mail/Tweets/Facebook messages - listeners are bailing on 790 Please don't gooooo - MT "I don't like the fish sandwich at McDonalds, but I still go get a Big Mac" - MT more or less saying feel free to tune out Josh, but don't leave the station Lance didn't say anything about it I don't think They're definitely aware people are pissed. People were also pissed about Jay Mohr and some other changes in the past, those changes didn't seem to turn out very well.
Matt Thomas is the last good guy left on 790. I pity him having to deal with these other incompetent D-Bags.
Apparently he's going to need to incorporate some dick jokes into his routine if he wants to stay on at 790.
Why? MT is supposed to cover Craig Ackerman during away games this year. He's also the Rockets PA announcer.
