Glad I haven't heard a guy talking about licking sacks and stroking another dude off on 790. There is a reason 610 isn't even on my dial.

You mean loved *and* hated. You don't have to be both to be successful, but at minimum you have to be loved. You can be both and still succeed. Plenty of successful people are polarizing, but it means you have just as many people who love you as hate you. If you only make people hate you and tune out, you're not going to be on the air much longer.

Now that we have that cleared up, let's also acknowledge that you could put a sack of potatoes and a fart machine on the air at 610 from 2p-6p and draw the best ratings in town due to the fact that 1) they're the home of the Texans and 2) they're the longest running sports radio station in Houston by like 10 something years.

Look, if this whole "make people hate you and you'll be an uber sensation!" thing was true, Dylan Gwinn would have his own show on ESPN instead of being relegated to the graveyard shift on some 3rd tier radio station.

It also isn't because of Josh.

    It's because of the Texans

Gwinn killed himself in Houston radio when he said Shaq was a better player than Hakeem. I'm sure he regrets that.

So is that clip what was actually on air? I live in Austin and don't listen to 610.

What a f***ing moron. Is this what he's always like?

The continuing dismissal of the role luck plays in sports mystifies me. Of course Morey got lucky! Luck is a near-constant in virtually every success; always has been, always will be. This should not be seen as a detriment – yet it almost always is. You can cite a lucky bounce, bad call, key injury or timely upset on the road of very nearly every champion (or, in the case of the unlucky – failed champion) – it doesn’t disqualify any of the execution and/or hard work that pre-/proceeded the lucky event.

Yes, Morey got lucky that the NBA vetoed his deal for Gasol. Yes, he got lucky that the Thunder panicked on Harden. And of course he got lucky that Howard’s tenure in Los Angeles was apparently miserable. But luck didn’t put him at the table with Dwight Howard; luck didn’t clear the necessary cap space; and luck had nothing to do with his sales pitch or with Howard buying it.

I understand that, inherently, one of the truly great things about sports is that it’s very black and white and easy: this team scored more, this person finished first, etc. But it seems people go out of their way to portray luck as somehow diminishing an accomplishment – and I just don’t understand that rationale at all.

    Hey Now!,

I guess the Texas aren't lucky enough to see Matt Schaub is a not an elite QB...

Wow, hadn't heard those clips before. Rich lord sounds miserable to be having to deal with that.

I'm in Austin and miss Houston radio, maybe not so much anymore.

    That was pathetic.

Guys, this is not even close to Josh Innes' worst meltdown. He had a blowup with Rich Lord for the ages about 3 years ago where Rich unloaded on him and I actually thought it would be Innes' last show on AM610.

This was tame stuff. Rich just let Innes hang himself. He was defensive the entire time and knew he was had but was loathe to admit it. If he would show some courage and own up to having a personal issue against Morey, he could start to put this behind him. He'd rather play ignorant.

His diversion off to sacks is what losers do to divert attention when they know their case is lost.

Agree. 104.9 has gotten markedly better over the last year. I can't turn on 1300 any more. I seriously cannot stand the sound of Rod Baber's voice. Thank G-d they finally got rid of Bucky Godbolt...but he was replaced with some schmuck out of San Antonio.

I typically listen to Mike & Mike in the morning, but I do enjoy the E Hogan and Sean Adams afternoon show on 104.9.

I assume so. I don't listen to 610 for reasons such as that.
