And on top of all that, he's a scrub.

So you want Terrence Jones to be the Rockets's backup 5? You sir are a basketball genius.

Jones isn't a 5, but he did occasionally played 5 at Kentucky, and indeed in the summer league, Jones did play better low post deference than Harrelson. McHale isn't going to play 10 men rotation probably 9... Rockets 5 and 4 are likely to be a rotation of Asik, D.Mo, Pat2, T-Jone and Rollz, and of course Pat2 and T-Jone can play 3 too. They are both very versatile players.

Really just like Pat2 he play 4, 5 and 3 last season. To me, it really doesn't master how big he is, but how good he plays.

Pat pat is awful at the 5, and he's no three. He's a 4 with good range (not a stretch 4) but limited post presence. I like the guy but his ceiling is an impressive 4, not any other position

So is he waived yet or not? He is still on the roster along with Sean Williams according to rockets.com.

I hope he doesnt get waived. It would nice to keep him as our 3rd string.

No, he was not waived. If he isn't waived by tomorrow, he made the team. His contract is about to become fully guaranteed.

I do hope he stays. He showed he can put in a few minutes at the 5 with the Knicks last year. Nice grit and effort.

I don't think people are grasping that Asik isn't going to walk in and be a 35 mpg guy out of the box. Motiejunas will help, but I really don't want to see Patterson spending time there.

    Yeah I agree.

I fail to see what is wrong with Harrellson as a backup C?

He's 6'10 280lbs. And put up 4.4ppg and 3.9rpg in 14 minutes as a rookie. A pretty physical defender which is a good thing, and can shoot it out to the 3 point line, which can only be a good thing? Very limited offensively apart from jumpers or putbacks, but what are we expecting from a backup C?

He had better rookie numbers than Asik, and while he certainly isn't in the same ballpark as a defender, I can think of worse guys to come off the bench and bang away with the big guys...

Thanks. What about Sean Williams and Jon Brockman? Do they have guaranteed contracts now? Or are they likely to be waived too?

Williams' contract guarantee date was apparently pushed back. Brockman's contract is fully guaranteed, however I don't think it's out of the question that he'll get cut anyway.
