My mother-in-law says she was engaged when she was 12 to an 18 year old guy but he went off and died in Vietnam. Also in Oklahoma, just saying. It seems the attitude is that 16 is too young of an age for consent and there is no way an older adult couldn't be taking advantage of the 16 year old in that situation. It's up to the people in these places like Oklahoma and Australia to change their laws if that is the view of modern society. Phew! I was 31 and my wife was 22 when we met so I just made the cut.
As a german living in germany my whole life i find it fascinating how people are so outraged over this. In germany the age of consent is 14. Back when i was in school a bunch of 15 year old girls in my class had 18-22 year old boyfriends. People would have freaked out if the guy was 30+ but nobody ever had a problem with the 20ish year old guys. I personally think it's highly likely the girl lied about her age and even if she didn't, he must have been 19 at the time and she 15, right? Nobody would even care about that here lol

Misdemeanor statutory rape is usually a fineable offense when reasonably close in age and no coercion, but what a ****ing r****d to risk generational wealth for some coochie.
Anyone would be reminded to raise daugthers as nerds, that way chances are higher that they stay more at home or do not go out as much...... You try to bind them to you longer and avoid those situations..... Teenagers have their own mind and are rebels, it is tough.

Would you raise a son that way? I raised my daughters to be smart, assertive, inquisitive, and good decision-makers while giving them the freedom to find their own personality and callings. Part of that is just being a Dad who is available and interested in their lives and thoughts (unless a Rockets game is on).
