Fegwu, I like Noah, he reminds me a little of Tyson Chandler with better offensive skills and less rebounding. I don't think he will be able to put on alot of weight ie. Chandler, but he probably won't have to with the current NBA rules.
The guy I really like more than him on the Florida team is Al Horford, he is a genious on the defensive end of the floor with an Amare Stoudamire type of body. He can bang and rebound. By the time he finishes growing he'll probably be close to seven foot. Its a shame he is not declaring for the draft.

I can see it. Noah reminds me of Marcus Camby which kind of goes along the same thinking you're using since Chandler is essentially a poor man's version of Camby.

I don't understand what you're implying by saying Chandler doesn't need to put on any weight because of the current NBA rules. We've all heard countless times how the league is shifting towards a more a guard oriented league with how you are essentially not allowed to touch perimeter players meanwhile post players such as Yao are fighting for dear life down in the trenches for positioning.

With that said, you would think that's all the more motivation for stick figures like Chandler to bulk up---wouldn't you?

Thanks for your input. Your Tyson Chandler comparism makes a lot of sense - Noah could be a great pick but I kinda like to have Childress (first choice) or Roy better.

I do enjoy watching Noah but I fear he is not the type of player we need now. We need someone like Roy, Fernandez, Childress and Rashad Anderson type as priority number one. Players that be serviceable swingmen and knock down open shots. Rudy Fernandez' defense is a question but from who I have heard his shot is top class (he has durability questions though).

With Wesley, Sura, Bowen (1 year left) and Brunson all likely gone, Josh Childress will be the perfect sidekick for Mac and Ming Yao from my vantage point.

I think Josh Smith is a better player than Josh Childress. Smith is Kirilenko lite!

What? Kirilenko is good because while he isn't generally spectacular at anything, he's good at everything. To call somebody Kirilenko lite sort of implies they are mediocre at everything. Nice sell.

Come on, mediocre at everything is still better than 90% of the rockets' existing roster. Regardless, i dont think Hawks will parted with Josh Smith, he got tons of potential.

By the way, Smith is doing good tonight against Bobcats, 18pts 13rebs 8assts 5 blks so far........

I am all for swift for childress. i think its a good deal, atlanta need a front court player like stro. Then we pick someone from the draft to replace stro.

    Shelton Williams?
Also, Is Atlanta going to give up some decent player just for a player that has great "potential"?

Yea but Smith can't shoot the ball very well. He's a great rebounder and will score you some points but we need guys who can shoot from long-distance.

Funny that in today's Chronicle article they talk about the Rockets lack of size in the backcourt. Quite timely with my post about adding size in the backcourt with the likes of Josh Childress. Especially since Childress is a pretty good rebounding SG. He might not be that "physical guy" but he does rebound and get in the lane.

For those wanting to move Swift for Childress....I am all for moving Swift for a veteran swingman if the Rockets can draft a Big with their pick. That makes sense to me. However, I dont think the Hawks are interested in Swift. They will get their "Big" with their first pick (Thomas, Noah etc). So their interest in potentially moving Childress would be to get back into the lottery to get a PG, such as Marcus Williams. Childress for Swift doesnt make sense for them. They are only going to potentially move Childress if they can fill a hole in their starting lineup, not to add more depth to their frontline.

Man, it's tough to pry that 1st round pick! Such excitment and hope. I understand. But understand that it also is a gamble with that pick.

Whatever the case though, I think it's quite clear the Rockets understand they need more SIZE in the backcourt. Clearly Childress at 6'8" would represent that. So would Carney or Brewer if they were available. It will be interesting.

I'm on board with taking Roy. He is 6'5" and is a good scorer. So he has some size and can be the 3rd scorer on the team. Exactly what we need.
HOWEVER, I dont think Roy will be there at ~#10. There's the rub! Roy is probably the #1 SG on the board. He probably will go somewhere from 5-8. So it is doubtful we will be able to get him. So with him off the board......

I saw Childress play last night against Charlotte and he is long and athletic. He passes the ball very well and is patient on his post entries which is important. Solid defender cause of his length. The only thing that concerned me was his shooting mechanics, it kinda looks like he is flicking the ball when he shoots. Other than that I really like him. I don't know if I would give up a Sheldon Williams, Rudy Gay or a Tiago Splitter for him though.

sheldon williams will be a 10th pick. atlanta is not going to waste their pick on him. Even if they pick a PF, they still need depth in their front court, and plus swift is not overpaid(I think his salary is just about right).

All Swift needs is more playing time..and maybe some support from the coach..New Jersey would definitely want Swift on their roster, but I'm not sure about Atlanta.
