I like the idea of a Josh Childress trade but for that 2nd round selection(the Knick Pick), not a top 10 pick! :)

Shelden has no offensive game whatsoever. His game is ramming his shoulder into a defender and heave the ball at the backboard. His range doesn't extend beyond 3 feet. He's a hard working hustle player, and that's it. Think Reggie Evans or James Thomas.

HA, dont want to put a "damper" on the excitment of the lottery pick! The lottery is always fun to speculate on, but when I look at the types of players that will be REALISTICALLY available to us at around ~#10, I am skeptical that that player will be markedly better than what we could get with Childress. Sure if we can draft Noah or Thomas, I am ALL over that! I am probably Noah's biggest fan on the board. But those guys will be gone. Same with Brandon Roy.

Considering JVG wants to "win now", getting a proven player like Childress that addresses a huge need area seems like a perfect fit. The added bonus is Childress is still very young. Childress isnt really an "exciting" player. He doesnt have a lot of "sizzle" to his game. But he does a lot of things well and quite frankly when you have stars like Tmac, Yao, you just need good solid, dependable, role players to support them. Childress can do that. He wont get in their way. And come to think about it, I bet Childress is a damn good post passer with that 6'8" height! That's something we can always use.

Sometimes with trades you have to be at the right place at the right time. And I think a team like Atlanta, that has a surplus of swingman (something we REALLY need) and is looking for perhaps another draft pick to address their OWN needs at PG really makes this a worthwhile option for both teams.

Of course, the added bonus with Childress, is not only do you get the player, but you get the 'fro! ;)

Let's not get greedy. Childress was a Top 10 pick 2 years ago. He is worth it in terms of what he brings to the table. He started off slow his 1st year and is getting better in his 2nd. Atlanta is not going to give him up for a high 2nd round pick. In this league you have to give to get. I dont have a problem giving up the #10 pick for a quality, young SG that can play now. Especially in a draft class that is coming up, one of the weakest in a while.

"his jumpshot is ugly" On no, please, no more poor jumpshooters. We must have a shooter. We must have a shooter, repeat after me....

He shot 57% from the field and 75% from the free throw line. I'll take his "no offensive game whatsoever". He gets his all inside and doesn't take away possessions from Yao and McGrady or throw up bricks.

Childress' jump shot form is kind of ugly. Ugly much like Shawn Marion's. But it goes in. I wont disagree we need more outside shooting. Childress is not a bomber, but he can hit the shot...and do a heck of alot more than just stand outside the 3pt line shooting shots. He can defend, bring the ball up, he can slash to the basket when Yao is being double teamed etc. Why limit us to looking for just a "shooter?" What happens when that shooter goes cold? What else can he bring to the table? Think outside the box.

My overall idea is to add a piece in the offseason with the MLE such as Rasual Butler or Jumaine Jones. Those guys would help address the 3pt shooting problem.

I agree with Deuce -- I'm sure we'd all like that, but it's not realistic .... Childress was the 6th pick overall less than 2 seasons ago, and he's only 22 and has improved since his rookie season. I'm sure the Hawks are still very happy about his potential.

For me, it depends on where we end up picking .... but would be nice to add a young player with size and smarts who doesn't have to go through the first year or two of getting his NBA feet wet.

Im all for this we are desperately in need of some size at the 2 spot, I think Childress would be a perfect fit for the rockets

I'm all for it. He'll be an even better defender than Wesley, and he shoots at a very high percentage for the Hawks. I think having Joe Johnson take the focus of the defense has allowed his offense to open up.

He's very young, and probably as good as anyone we can draft at SG. None of the guards I've seen really come off as great shooters besides Reddick, and he's not worth a lottery pick.

I don't think he can hit the 3 consistently enough. He also seems way too skinny to be a decent defender... could be pushed around by many players.

I think if Atlanta is going to trade Childress, it would make more sense for them to trade for a player that will bring some veteran leadership to that team and not another youngster.

But I’d certainly do the deal if Atlanta offered Childress.

Depends on how much out of favor he has fallen. IIRC Drew Gooden and Joe Johnson were unloaded for not much more than spare parts not long after their respective drafts.

Let them have Juwon Howard and Rayn Bowen. They with reward Hawks with the work ethics, hustle and the winning culture.

I like the idea of adding Childress--if we could get him without giving up our first round pick i'd like it even more :)

Maybe Stro and then we draft Shelden--his hustle and passion can't be taught but he can work on his jumpshot all offseason-even Charles Oakley was money from 18.

Send them the TE, Stro and and our #2 for a resigned Harrington, and Childress. Then draft Shelden, or if Noah or Ty Thomas is available give them consideration.

I think we can get more for Stro though.
