Great move. Luhnow is very Morey-like in that he seems to be quite savvy on accumulating and flipping assets. Hope he can land a "James Harden" with one of these trades.
Vasquez ended up being #16 on Mayo's top 20. Carlos Perez who was 19 dropped off. Surprised he ended up behind Tucker.
Steven Moya(OF) is a guy that fits the "similar" mold Eager to see. Not getting my hopes up too much for the PTBNL though, satisfied with the trade regardless
For Bud Norris Astros need atleast another big prospect for Bud Norris to complete the rebuilding phase so we can start winning in the near future as far as trying to get assets for the core of the future. Bud is Luhnow 's last trading chip.
Top 50 prospect for Bud to go with another good prospect. After Bud is traded Luhnow now can concetrate on winning and what few free agents to sign.
Not that wins are that important to this team, but who's the closer. Do we go closer by committee or does Cisnero get the job outright.
Well the GM tweeted today that it is going to be addressed at a later date, but I have to think Cisneros gets first shot.
I'm sorry, I meant to say that I have absolutely no confidence it would work. I'm curious to see if they will put him at closer in order to blow games with the stated intention of building his confidence to start.
Vasquez was Tigers' blog Bless You Boys' 4th-ranked prospect at the beginning of the 2013 season, writing (and this is but a brief pull from a thorough scouting report): Vasquez's ceiling is that of an impact, middle of the order bat that hits over .300 consistently with 20+ HR power and tons of doubles, while playing a solid-average LF. Overall, he has the potential to be a perennial all-star, but it takes some dreaming to see it. The projection is there, and his best tool is the one tool that you'd want to be a prospects' best: his bat. He'll play the entire 2013 season at 19, undoubtedly at Class A-West Michigan. Ideally, if all goes well, he will be ready to compete for the starting LF job by 2016.
Bump; PTBNL revealed. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>Astros Acquire David Paulino To Complete Veras Trade <a href="http://t.co/rETYxdEThn">http://t.co/rETYxdEThn</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/search?q=%23mlb&src=hash">#mlb</a></p>— MLB Trade Rumors (@mlbtraderumors) <a href="https://twitter.com/mlbtraderumors/statuses/378588184776429568">September 13, 2013</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
More on Paulino: He's a 19-year-old righthander from the Dominican. His brother, Brenny, was rated by Baseball America as the #6 prospect in the Tigers system entering the 2012 season, and the #21 prospect entering this season. At 6'5", 180, he's lanky, just like his brother, who is listed at 6'4", 170. Brenny has missed the past 2 seasons due to shoulder surgery, and possible complications. David underwent Tommy John surgery in July. Before going under the knife, he was 2-1 with a 2.70 ERA in 4 starts with the GCL Tigers. In 20 innings, he allowed 6 runs on 16 hits (1 homer), walked 2, and struck out 22. He had a WHIP of 0.90, and opponents hit .229 off of him.
