    From what I read it does not kick in until 2020. Great day for Astros organization. Well deserved by the MVP.

    Deal goes through 2024....so 7 more years of Altuve!

    The Astros have certainly taken care of their big guns this offseason. 2 year $24 million for Springer, and a monster deal for Altuve. Hopefully this sends Springer and Correa a signal that we take care of our guys...that could count down the road.

    Next year they will lock up Springer through 2026. Then in 2020 they will lock up Correa through 2027. Then in 2021 they will lock up Bregman through 2028. Then in 2022 they will lock up Tucker through 2029.

    I love the deal. I wrote in the other thread my concern of paying Altuve too far into his mid to late 30s because his game relies a lot on speed. It's not stupid like the Cano deal that runs until Cano is 41.

    If you add his next 2 seasons salary to the extension it averages out at 23.36 million per year for 7 years.

    Astros are going to be contenders for the next decade!

    Altuve will become the greatest Astro of all-time when it's all said and done.

    So, he will be 35 in the last year. I bring this up because some balked regarding paying him into his declining years. Earlier termination than many would have thought. Part of the compromise I guess.
