Nobody will ever touch those IBB numbers from the steroid days because of how stupid an IBB is in nearly every situation.
Trout's non-steriod era numbers say different The same Trout that was mentioned in the post I responded from what you responded
That is not true. Fans say that all the time, but managers and pitchers from that era have a very different tale to tell. He was equally as feared as Sosa, McGwire, et. al.
Unbelievable how people throw out these type of statements/comments without considering the different eras. Mike Trout likely won’t even reach the IBBs Bagwell had in his career. Why? One word for you: A.N.A.L.Y.T.I.C.S I swear it’s almost as if we didn’t just have a manager here that won a ring that literally NEVER intentionally walked anyone?!? Edit: Also, Bagwell racked up the majority of those IBB in the 90s when he had guys like Sean Berry hitting behind him. When we got Alou here then soon after Berkman came up, Bagwell’s IBBs nose dived. Trout hasn’t had ANYONE hitting behind him that scares you and yet his best year in terms of IBBs is still below Bagwell’s.
He said Pujols, Trout and Bonds… Sosa and McGwire (prior to his roided up years once he turned 30) were no where near the hitters those three are. Sosa doesn’t even have a .900 career OPS. McGwire hit .263 for his career.
McGwire was one of the greatest hitters of all-time, and I'm pretty sure he's talking about the roided version of Sosa only. Nobody compares to roided version of Bonds in terms of fear.
Wow. You sound so passionate. You're swearing, using all caps, and making one letter sentences Here's a news flash for you.... Trout is 75% close to Bagwell's IBB number Alvarez has had 600 OPS protecting him most of this season
Two of them were not really Bagwell's contemporaries (by Pujols's rookie year, Bagwell's shoulder was beginning to fall off); the other may by the greatest hitter of the last fifty years. I chose guys who were Bagwell's contemporaries.
It’s also just complete conjecture. Like how would anyone know if teams from the 90s are less scared of Bagwell than current teams of Yordan. Id like to see that research.
All the graphics they've been throwing up comparing Alvarez and Bagwell as of late and all I can see is how f*cking awesome Bagwell was. I'm a fan since the late 70s but I had forgotten just how much of a dominating season that was for him. Just a damn shame the season was stopped. Maybe we win the central maybe not......
I was telling my friend this exact same thing the other day. I grew up with Bagwell but seeing the graphics reminded me how monstrous those seasons were.
I wonder what this offense would look like if you flipped Bregman and Altuve. With Bergman’s ability to draw walks (set the table) and Altuve’s power, Jose could drive in 100 runs. Second on the team in HRs with 17!
Bagwell had a season-ending injury before the stoppage. Had the season played out, no MVP and prob no playoff berth
Might not have been season ending but likely at least a month. Bagwell suffers broken hand - UPI Archives
