I've been as big a Hill supporter as it can get and I give. We need to tank and get a center. There's just no other alternative to get better.
Jordan Hill managed to also suck under Adelman, who apparently knows everything about offensive spacing and execution. So, stop blaming the current coach for Hill sucking.
The current coach may or may not suck-- still early in a season without much of a training camp/preseason. However, your predictions of player success has a long and well-documented record of sucking.
I don't see how the D-League helps players. The competition down there is garbage. It didn't really seem to help PPat or T-Will. The guys would be better off to going to some sort of extended training camp where they only work on their skills for a couple months. Patterson clearly needs work on his post moves and he didn't get any development in the D-League. He looks exactly the same as he did in the D-League. Hell, this year he looks worse and I don't even know if he is 100% healthy from the way he is moving out there. Second, Morey hasn't exactly had the stellar draft history like we hype it up here in CF.net. He has pretty much been living on the past glory of the Landry and Brooks draft. Parsons is looking like another big steal and if he can develop a 3pt shot he will be huge. Donuts certainly seems pretty damn intriguing. But Marcus Morris doesn't seem to have a clear position and his defense in the D-League did not look good at all. I also think it's very discouraging to see that he couldn't even beat out Chase or T-Will for time and Parsons did immediately. I hope things turn around and becomes a monster like CXbby forecasted in another thread, but.....
I actually want to write this season off, skip to the Draft part. Without the offseason preparation, players like Morris and Patterson are not getting their groove back in time. Things take too long to develop. We are not ready to make some noise yet.
He was a third string PF who was young. He was an afterthought for Adelman because he didn't fit that 4 who could initiate the offense.
That's the problem with Hill. He doesn't have the ball skills to be a forward, and he's doesn't have the toughness/strength to be an effective C. If we had a C who did have the ability to initiate the offense and handle the ball on the perimeter some (as we did last year with Hayes/Miller), then you get away with playing at as the token "4". We don't have such a C on this team, and really there aren't that many of them around. So, he has to slide over to C. Most centers aren't that much bigger than him. He just doesn't know how to consistently use his natural physical tools and as a result his presence shrinks.
Yeah, Hill played pretty well with Miller. Then Miller got injured like a week after DD wrote this thread and came back a shell of his former self. Maybe we can ship Hill to Minny so he can be with Big Bad Brad again.
At this point Jordan Hill looks like another career backup hustle player. Good rebounder, can even contest shots, but lack the consistency and talent to play big minutes. He might actually have a long career doing this, but will likely have to make a few more cities home and won't make more than MLE money.
He has bad hands. He has a difficult time catching and holding onto the ball, and that's something that is unlikely to change.
