The Man cannot beat off the Bear's challenge for his minutes.

Oh man, he was playing well at the PF spot in Rick Adelman's system, some guys just are not made for what McHale is throwing out there.

Only one guys stats are better this year - Kyles....everyone elses have suffered significantly.

Man, I miss that offensive system - and I am sure so does Hill and everyone else.

You're always too quick to blame the coach, and not the player. Even early last year, I remember you were blasting Adelman when the players were just not performing.

When the intensity and concentration isn't there on a consistent basis, which very obviously is the case with Hill, that's his fault. Not the coach's.

Does that explain Hill sight seeing when teeny tiny Thomas went flying in for a layup?
If i recalled shortly after, the bear showed him why he can step in his turf.

I'm likely to be in minority here, but I feel Hill has shown enough for another year. Remember that despite his age, he's still very raw. But he's definitely not just crapping out the way Thabeet's doing.

I think the Rockets pick up his option and let him develop another year. He's not good to be sure. But at least he's not downright atrocious on the court. As long as he can get playing time, there's at least hope for him to make incremental improvements. And for ~$3 mil next year, it's not too much of a price to pay for that hope. Assuming of course the Rockets aren't in the Dwight Howard sweepstakes.

Durv, I think some players play better when they are more involved and get to touch the ball, others don't need that to do well - I believe Hill and CBud this year are pretty much not getting near the touches and they are letting it effect the rest of their games.

Are you saying that some people are not more effective in different systems?

Is it the coaches fault that for the first time Luis is shooting under 50%, or that Kmart is significantly less effective?

I am not looking to place blame, I personally LOVED the Adelman system, it is exactly how I like to play, and enjoy watching.

I hate the Steve Francis drive and dish system which is a lot of what we are running now.....

Now that being said.....if it works it works......right now there are some players it has helped, mostly Kyle, and a lot it has hurt in overall production.

You can say it is all the players fault, but they have proven over time to be effective, so to me, it is the new system more than a decline in players.

You like him so much that you're going around telling everyone that Kyle's all-star stats come at the cost of team performance.

Lowry is just a backup pg. It is only McHale and his horrible system that gets him 20/7/6.

I like Adelman's offense too, but its not the only way to achieve great ball and player movement. Adelman's system also depends a lot of having post players who can make smart passes to cutters from the high post. Last year, that was Chuck Hayes and Brad Miller. Patterson showed flashes of being able to handle the role. Scola was not effective in that way, and certainly Jordan Hill wasn't. So even if we elected to run Adelman's system with these players, it wouldn't work nearly as well.

And, yes, maybe Martin and Budinger were accustomed to a different system, but they are in the end professional basketball players and they should be able to play effectively in any NBA offense. Its on them to adjust.

Budinger has always been a streaky player, and if I remember correctly he started last year in a terrible slump as well. Martin probably has more to lose than anyone, because his game depends so much on rhythm and timing and he's not getting the calls like before. But a huge part of his offense was the transition game last year, and Lowry continues to spoon-feed him open looks on the break. In the half-court, its up to him to figure things out and adjust to how the refs are blowing the whistle.

Let's wait until the end of January, after which our schedule will have evened out a bit, before we draw strong conclusions on what's working and what's failing. I mean, should we be shocked that averages are down when we faced 10 consecutive playoff teams, and most of those games were on the road?

Pretty sure that was sarcasm. Correct me if I'm wrong, Francis3422.

I hope you paid attention when the Rockets were absolutely falling apart on both ends of the floor tonight when Lowry went to the bench. It happened in both the first and second half, so you had two chances to catch it.
