With all the hate Luther Head got while he was here, I was certain the Rockets would win a couple of championships after he left.
If only Hill could have consistency, I'd trust him more. Despite having two good games, I'd still rather have Patterson play.
Sorry, I was celebrating him getting better, and then the naysayers were brutal in a very young player. He is HARDLY a finished product yet. DD
I think it would be interesting to see him as a PF alongside Nene. Thats a big long athletic mobile frontcourt.
Now if he will do this for about 70% of the time, THAT will be a nice step forward. Does anyone have a video of him crashing?
Hill has talent, but only produces it in bursts. Hopefully he can be more consistent. He needs a bit more belief in his abilites I think, he plays great when he's angry, knocks people about and gets to the hoop. Interesting prospect.
Morey has acknowledged our need for interior presence and lack of height at the 5. When we acquire such a player, what will happen to Hill then? Scola and Hayes are guaranteed playing time. Patterson has proven himself at backing up Scola and Miller is an Aldeman favourite. We cant have 4 backups for two position (PF & C). So where does that leave Hill? Unless Patterson gets traded or Aldeman becomes disloyal to Miller, I dont see where or how Hill can play. Hill does not fit the bill. What need will Hill fill?
Problem is, he's not a center! No way do I trade Luis Scola. Yes, he is 30, but his knees aren't taking quite the pounding as other more athletic players and I think he can continue similar production throughout his contract. I'd definitely like to see him take some summers off. But he's money every single night and the only proven winner on this team. If we're legit contenders in the next 5 years, you can count on Scola still on the block. Hill as backup at his natural PF position is great, but we're not going to be a contender with him starting at PF and definitely not Center. It would be a different story if he was the least bit intimidating to players in the lane. Then Patrick Patterson looks to me more promising than Hill for that back-up PF spot. Hell, we have too many promising players with not enough minutes to go around! I want Thabeet and Olajuwon mentoring him. Get the hell away from Dwight Dream!
And so little of Scola's game relies on athleticism. He has good foot work, is a smart player, knows the angles, and works hard. Those guys hang around longer than the Vince Carters or Amare Staudamires of the world. Hill just needs to play the 4 and have a good center to play alongside him.
I totally agree about Scola, he almost got called for a travel on a reboud/put back, but as the commentators said if you dont go up, you arent going to get called for an up and down! He takes minimal wear and tear, and while I dont think that he'll last like Nash has, I'm sure he has 2 or 3 years of decent level basketball left.
I think everyone was just upset about the DD jinx you might have served him. Great to see that might only have a two or three week spell before it wears off. Alot of the issues he had this month were because of him not fitting well next to Scola in the starting lineup. Once Brad Miller comes back I think Jordan will be alot more consistent playing off of him like he was in December. I think even when the Rockets make their midseason trade here in the next couple weeks and Hill is still on the roster, he will possibly be moved out of the rotation and there is nothing wrong with that. It seems to me that the Rockets typically have a three year window for developing young players and Jordan Hill will take another offseason and preseason for everything to click to get consistent production out of him.
I am a Hill fan, but it's hard to defend him against all his haters here on CF. Doesn't he ever think of ME??
not sure if this has been posted yet but i found this on the interweb and thought it was pretty nifty. LOL @ Bosh
