While the demotion may come as a shock to him, I'm definitely in agreement that something needs to be done to light a fire in Jordan Hill. The guy has tremendous athleticism and offensive ability coupled with the potential to be great on the defensive end. What he is missing is that desire and determination to really improve and become more consistent. While it's refreshing and damn exciting seeing him explode for a dunk now and then, his inconsistency (seems to perform every 3rd game) is what is really driving me (and I'm sure may of you all also) crazy. Maybe some time in the D-League honing his skills and putting up ridiculous numbers (kinda like the way Terrence Williams used to D-League to average a triple double) will help him. And even if he does not put up 20-10 and instead gets dominated, it would be nice for the Jordan to play people who are hungry for any shot at the NBA. Puts starting for an proud NBA franchise like the Houston Rockets into perspective. If only we could somehow replicate the motivation and basketball smarts of Patrick Patterson in Jordan Hill, we would really have gotten a steal from NY. As of now, all we have is a guy bursting with potential but unable to put it together on a consistent basis. Not the worst problem in the world but makes watching his play extremely enjoyable and stressful at the same time. As of right now, I'm much more enamoured with Patrick Patterson. The combination of size, smarts and skill is very intriguing. Hopefully he stays with the rockets for a very long time.
You need to post more often. That is 100% on the money. I suspect that there is a bit of showcasing going on here. I also feel like they are hiding Patterson a little bit, as of now he is clearly the better player. What Jordan Hill has got to understand is that he is average, to bad, when he doesn't give 150% heart and effort, all the time. What gives me hope is that we have seen him do it before, against excellent opposing bigs. He is really making me nervous. I can't help but wish we had Anthony Randolph instead. He might be unstable, but he will F'ing produce no matter what. You give him minutes and he will give you 10-12 boards.
Whatever....check his stat line from last night .......not much to look at.....the kid is a big body that fills a void we desperately need at the moment....Im still not sold on him being a consistent contributor like Patp is and will be for us.He is very, very, very ,very raw even with 2 yrs under his belt....Dont expect to much from the kid too soon or you will be highly dissapointed........IT IS WRITTEN.
I think his demotion will come in the form of getting spot duty when Chuck and Miller return. I think Patterson is solidifying his spot as the backup 4, and if Miller is the backup 5, that leaves Hill with spot minutes when someone is in foul trouble. Granted some lineup shifts will get him more minutes on occasion, but Hill's really digging himself a hole IMO.
When Chuck returns this weekend, it will be VERY interesting to see how the rotation is setup. With Miller out a bit longer, it shouldn't be to much of an issue but once he gets back, who gets the primary playing time at the backup 4 between PPat or Hill? The obvious answer is PPat, his play recently speaks for itself and he just looks to get "it" while Jordan is still so inconsistent however if something is looming then Hill might see more minutes at that spot. My preference would be to continue playing Hill at the 5 and reduce Miller's minutes along with Chuck's time but that would also mean we've gone from playing for a playoff spot to developing as the #1 priority this season
half of the minutes he's on court he spends fixing his hair. cutting his hair would seriously improve his work ethic  I like the guy, but he does not show much of emotions or fight for the time he's on court
"I feel better working with all those guys," Hill said of the second unit. "I know (with) the second group, I get my opportunity to put the ball up. The first group, when I started, wanted me to basically defend and rebound, with Luis Scola getting all the buckets for the big man." What a douche!!!! He is having a whinge because he doesnt get scoring touches. So defending and rebounding in a game is too much too ask for this guy. Sounds like a ME ME ME type player. No thoughts about the team and our needs. That was the last straw for me. Get him outta here. What use is he to us if he cant play d or grab boards? Who the f$ck does he think he is?
We get it you don't like the guy, but calm the **** down. What are you on steroid... douchebag! .. Look, he is in SECOND year, and is frustrated with his play, which is very normal. So comment's like this don't surprise me, I mean the guy just has to vent. His only 23 for crying out loud. He need's to be given time, and developed properly, instead of being fed to the wolves like he has since Chuck went out. Just look at the team's he faced off against in the last couple of weeks, they all(for the most part) have been tough teams above .500 It's been much tougher than what Chuck had to face in December, which was mostly team's below .500 .. So just chill and (this goes for everybody on the board) be PATIENT...
Jeez, has Jordan Hill dropped off a cliff or what since this thread was created? I wasn't buying the hype intially but I'm starting to think the curse might be real!
Wasn't the thinking that Hill played better with Miller on the court? And yes, with Hill there are flashes of brilliance - then times where he looks lost. Kind of makes me think of my very tall brother that has ADD.
Players under his type of development almost always break out their 3rd year, dont praise but dont hate either... he will be more consistent next year..
