When I watch Jordan Hill play low-post one-on-one defense, I can really see Chuck's influence on him. He doesn't fall for ball fakes often, and at times he does a tremendous job of anticipating the other player's move and instantly getting his hands up to make the shot incredibly difficult on his opponent. To me, that is a very exciting thing to see and I hope he continues to build on it because he still has a lot of room to grow.
100% Agree, if he brings that energy each night he will quickly become the first guy off the bench for this team. WHY ARE THERE NO VIDEOS OF JORDAN HILL's DEFENDING?
Well, there's really no substitute for the lottery when you need size and athleticism. Very rare these gigantic young guys get moved. I don't know why some of you are blaming D'Antoni for giving him up. Hill wasn't getting much playing time in New York, but it's not like they wanted to get rid of him. Morey pried him out of NY along with the chicken stand because Walsh felt he HAD to make a play for Lebron. Hill had some great rebounds in the fourth when Kobe started chucking.
Hill's first half defense was so-so but he locked down Gasol in the 2nd half. I didn't think anybody did a good job on Odom tonight...just one of those games.
Good post. Hill is doing an excellent job moving his feet on defense and staying in front of his man. As you said it, it must be Chuck's influence on him.
Like some of you have mentioned.. Hayes is definitely helping Hill defensively. It was pretty noticeable watching Pau attempt to back in Hill, but Pau ended up moving like one foot... AWAY from the basket. Seeing him and Hakeem work together would be HUGE for this kid. He's got the quickness to be able to do what Hakeem was able to do. With some polish and work over the off-season would be wonders for his game next year!
Now you're a man Jordan Hill. <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/oiXaT_1I-vw?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/oiXaT_1I-vw?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
dude...why do you come into multiple threads and call everyone a homer? are people not allowed to get excited?
Because unlike you and Rocketeer he's not only interested in Jordan Hill's development. He's still trying to win games.
That was on draft day night. Afterwards he benched him and called him a "bad rookie" after Hill got traded to us. I think more than the picks J. Hill was the biggest thing we got out of the Tmac trade. He's a legit lottery pick, and I for one am glad to have him on board. I think at worst he'll be a 16-6 guy in the league, and at best? We're looking at J Oneal in his prime type of production. Not exactly TD or KG level, but decent nonetheless.
there's winning games now and winning games later on. Its like putting money in the bank. You play Hill now and we might lose games now, but later on its gonna pay dividends, namely in Hill developing and becoming better and better from the experience and confidence that comes with playing in the NBA night in and night out. RA's "win now" strategy hasn't exactly worked judging by our record. I'd rather be in a deeper hole (like say only 3 wins instead of 6) but have developed our rookies more than our current state.
Or you try to win games now and give Hill increasingly more minutes as he earns them with his play in games and on the practice floor. Like he did with Landry and Scola before him. Why is that a problem?
Because the geniuii* on this board just know that Adelman can't develop players - Landry and Scola came in fully polished and contributed from day one and played heavy minutes despite Adelman trying to hold them back - don't try and distort the 'facts' durvasa... [insert appropriate smilie?] *intentional mauling of the word
Yea when the Rockets bench reacts like they've just seen a big-time dunk, you know that's an impressive rebound.
