Hill played pretty solid against Odom in the 2nd half. It was nice having a guy out there who could guard Odom and Gasol. Now if he can start shooting that jumper with a little more confidence then I think we've found a nice player to pair with Yao.
Jordan Hill is reminding me of a younger Landry - he may not quite have the offense yet and may have better defensive potential but he is coming around nicely
The kid just keeps improving. He's proven to be coachable as well as athletically gifted. His frame looks like it can still fill out. Morey so screwed the Knicks. I'm loving it!
His defense on Gasol was huge in the 4th quarter. He still looks a big shaky on offense it seems he needs more confidence in his first dribble...but that will come as he gets more PT!
Jordan Hill must have been working hard this off season man he looks like a seasoned veteran out there solid play. Another Chris Wilcox in his early days? Maybe. It took Jermaine O'Neal about his 3rd or 4th season to start getting noticed. I think a 16/10 guy is reasonable.
Hill's team defense is shaky at times, but his one-on-one D on bigs is looking good. He really neutralized Gasol tonight. Granted Gasol was running on fumes in the second half, but it was still impressive.
No he wasn't. We went from down 3 to down 10 in the 2nd quarter while Hill was in the game. We went on an 11-2 run after Hill got subbed back out.
J. Hill played a well rounded game tonight. I think the biggest contribution to tonight's game on his behalf were rebounds at key moments and his 4th quarter defense. This is just one game homers so take a deep breath and put it into perspective. With that said, I hope his progression continues...
Most experts say it takes big men 3 years to find their game, look at Roy Hibbert in Indiana. IF the guy continues to put the time in the gym, sky is the limit.
I'm just glad RA is starting to trust him more. But if Jhill plays defense like this there is no way chuck hayes should get more minutes.
This comparison is dead on except that Hill is longer than Landry, taller than Landry, not nearly so offensively polished as Landry, but considerably better defensively. Oh, and Hill has the potential to be a defensive stalwart and a great rebounder and Landry really doesn't. Yeah. Okay. Basically the only thing they have in common is they're both young and black. What I'm wondering is does Jordan Hill have the potential to be a Ben Wallace type defensive presence? It took Wallace years to get his defense to elite, but he accomplished it. If Hill could come close to that, that would be phenomenal, because I believe he's already more polished than Wallace offensively.
Nah...like I said I wanted to start a thread like this after the Dallas game, but we lost and I didn't feel like posting. When Hill guarded Dirk that game he showed some pretty amazing versatility and he continued that great work tonight. He played with CONFIDENCE! Now he just needs that confidence in his jumper that he should be nailing! I was pretty willing to concede that Hill was a kid with size and speed that just didn't get it, but now that has all changed for me. Confidence has been his issue and I think he finally has started to relax and trust himself. He's a keeper!
I was more impressed with his rebounds. Very critical. Not to say that Hill's defense wasn't excellent, but Pau Gasol and Odom played a game last night which might factor in some. Offensively, I think he rushed some shots, specifically the hook shot when Brad gave him the ball from the high post. Regardless, great game by Hill.
lol absolutely nothing with hill reminds me of landry. also, hill has the "potential" to be much better than landry since he can actually play defense. keep working on your jumper big man!
Defintely worthy of a Clutch youtube montage of his defense One thing I noticed is Hill moved his feet very well when Pau or Odom would drive from the outside. Hill was able to stay in front of them without fouling. I wonder if Chuck has been helping him with footwork.
