No he's not. But its not like the Rockets are breaking the bank for Hill.

Its whatever the market gives you. I seriously doubt management is so enamoured by Jordan Hill that they're passing up Andre Iguodala for him.

From the games I saw him play, he seems like a good energy player especially on the defensive end.

    OK he's 22. Don't be a jackass.

He's a 22 year old rookie no one will know for a couple of years.

    There, you feel better?

Yao Ming didn't play tonight, should we trade this guy since he can't even get off the bench?

i was watching the game and the guy looked pretty lost. he does have good size at the PF, and as others have noted he has potential. lets see what Morey does. maybe his cruddy play makes our point of not including our 2010 first round pick even stronger.

Sam Cassell was a 24 year old rookie.

Aren't we happy it's Morey as our GM not some Barkley hating clutchfan?

The Rockets aren't going out of their way to reach out to the Knicks because they covet Jordan Hill so much they are in hot pursuit. With the size of T-Mac's contract and the trouble it brings in terms of trading him, we are limited to who we can actually deal with. The Knicks are one of the few teams that have the pieces to make a deal and their assets are limited. Jordan Hill is a key piece of the deal but he's not the sole reason we would make it. Every piece we are taking back as a whole, is what makes this deal good. We unload T-Mac's expiring contract for:

    a) A smaller expiring contract (A move towards our future)
    b) A young, high ceiling big man (A move towards our future)
    c) Potentially move up in the first round one year, an additional first round pick another year, and I may be wrong but have I heard another second round pick? (A move towards our future)

Look at our team RIGHT NOW. We are NOT in win now mode. Yes, we have a decent record but let's be realistic....we can NOT compete with our current team as is (and when I say "as is" i mean the active players we have right now). We are preparing ourselves for the long run by collecting assets, which in today's world, 1st round draft picks are pretty hot commodities. Yes, Hill is important to this deal but he's not the SOLE reason we're making it. This isn't like the McGrady deal that landed him here where HE was the SOLE reason we traded away Francis and Mobley. Coming out of college Hill was known for being on the unpolished side but that doesn't mean he's terrible. This is his FIRST year, give him a couple of seasons before you knee jerk him out as the worst player in the NBA after just half a season.
