Me. At least on the rebounds it's no surprise. As far as blocked shots, it's pretty much a toss up on any given night between them, and Yao effects shots more even if he doesn't block it. As far as shooting goes, Yao is more efficient IMO, but the team is still not fully utilizing him.
I think it would be interesting if Jordan Hill started in place of Yao. The first unit with Hill could run & gun for 6 minutes and tire out the other team. We could then bring Yao in while they're sucking wind and get some easy baskets and get them in foul trouble. 1st Unit: 1. Ish 2. Kevin 3. Shane 4. Luis 5. Hill 2nd Unit: 1. Brooks/Lowry 2. Lee 3. Bud 4. Chuck 5. Yao
It's not about who starts the game, it's about who finishes! --Players who aren't good enough to be starting, and coaches of those players who are trying to appease them.
Interesting that the Rox aren't making that point. Maybe because they're telling Dampier's ppl that we couldn't get what we needed for JT, and that's why we're reneging.. or maybe because not letting Hill get a big head is why they are so miserly on his minutes.
http://www.hoopsworld.com/Story.asp?story_id=17846 The man is starting to earn a reputation around the league as a premier shot-blocker and rebounder. Never really wanted Dampier anyway.
Like it or not, this guy is going to be a critical piece this year. The first big off the bench and sometimes starter. And, yeah, the idea of starting him and bringing Yao off the bench, every game, is intriguing.
Absolutely agree. That is the first reason that came to me as I read the news about damp. We have not had a decent shot blocking threat since Mt Mutumbo went down. I hope Hill continues his trend of improvement and remains a big part of this team. Hopefully he is not used as trade bait. But only morey knows
