This team is TOO DEEP!! We have Dampier,Miller,Yao,Hill who can play center,Scola who can play center, and Chuck who can play center!!! RA is thinkin the vets have a greater impact defensively than Hill and I totally agree. Chuck is probably our best defender in the paint, and Miller is a legit center with Dampier, Hill is going back to the 4 spot now with Dampier takin his spot at the 5.
Maybe they think they have leverage over him this way. I.e., they dangle the PT, but he has to get his energy up, etc., in order to get it. If they just gave him the PT without him earning it, he might never break those bad habits.
So you choose a scouting report over the real game? Because anyone that watched last year, saw that he struggled with that mid range jumper. Can he fix it? Sure. However, don't say he has a good medium range shot, when he hasn't showed it, especially last season when he was given more playing time. I was on the Hill bandwagon as well, but I'm not going to say he has a good medium range shot, when he hasn't shown it during a game. You could even hear Bill talk about it during his playing time last season. "He hits that shot in practice, but in the game he just can't seem to get it to fall." That's why I said he could fix it, but I'm not going to say it's reliable until he starts to hit it in the game.
Brad Miller has made bonehead mistakes, turned the ball over, and had silly technicals. Hayes can't finish under the rim nor block shots. Um, why would we not play Hill? At this point the whole teams playing boneheaded
Yes I did, and as I said I'm one of Hills biggest supporters. I hope the guy get's a bit more playing time to show what he can do, but I'm not going to sit here and say it's reliable after he struggled with it last season. I hope his pre-season was a sign of him improving his jump shot, but I'd like to see a bit more before I call him "reliable" from mid range.
Jordan Hill vs. Chuck Hayes Frankly, I don't understand why Chuck is playing over Hill. I love Chuck and have always been a big fan. However, SIZE wins in the NBA. The Lakers have been ample proof of that. I love to have Chuck around and on the bench (as a situational defender) but he's not the guy who can help you win a championship, esp when you've gotta go through the Lakers. We have a team with 2 turnstiles in the backcourt. Morey and Adelman seem to be sold on that combination. I'm not really sure you can win a championship with the worst defensive backcourt in the NBA and three defenders in your starting lineup as bad as Brooks, Martin, and Scola. Hayes is a great individual defender but this team needs a rim protector on the weak side and Jordan Hill is your best option when Yao is not playing. I'm not sure what Adelman's thinking is. Not only is Hill a better rebounder and shot blocker because of his size and athletic ability. Hill also showed me in the preseason that he'd worked on his post moves and hook shot. If I see the Rockets throw it into Chuck in the post as a primary option one more time, it'll be ulcer time. PS When is somebody going to tell Lowry he's no longer allowed to jack up jumpers early in the shot clock (esp from three!)? I thought we got rid of Rafer.
Signed Aaron Brooks, Carl Landry and Chase Budinger. Hill should be playing more, Hayes is extremely useful but he also is limited.
Hill should of been the starting center for this team post deadline last year. It was a development year and yet we didnt develop....its hurting us now.
I think you're thinking of the Denver game, when he did that. Thing is, there were about 32 seconds left on the clock and Lowry was smart enough to know to "jack up" that 3pt attempt quickly so the Rox could get another possession before the end of the quarter (or was it half?). If I recall, the Nugs missed their shot with few seconds left on the clock, but the Rockets couldn't snag the rebound, so the plan didn't pan out.
Very very true. I know that I was preaching the win whatever we can despite message, but I wish that we would have developed alot better and put Hill in the starting rotation at Center as well.
I haven't seen any threads specifically about this but iv'e seen it mentioned obviously. Anyways, it's frustrated me enough that I'm glad to see someone posted a thread specifically about this! I didn't because I knew everyone hear would say "jeez, thanks for the new thread" but anyways, yes, please god please, no more chuck hayes playing center and trying to score.
I'm normally an opponent of these types of "play a bench player" campaigns, but I think this one is justified. Free Hill, baby.
<br> Paradox? To show that he's developed and has those abilities he needs playing time. To gain playing time he has to show he has those abilities. Wait...what. (i know that's not what you're saying exactly, but that sentiment is lurking in this thread)
This was a thread on it's own and it's way more specific than the original threat it got merged with. Please stop merging my starter threads or I will no longer post anything. I want to see what Rocket fans say in response to my opinions and I don't have the time or patience to find a merged thread. Thank you.
