What would you trade for Chuck Hayes? I bet you couldn't get more than a laugh from another team for Chuck.
Amen... I want to see him play 30+ minutes and get a monster double-double in New York. Would also be nice if he got a block or three on McGrady.
I forgot that sunday we play the knicks. I can't wait to see Hill make the knicks organisation and fans feel like complete fools for giving us Jordan Hill. Fans on the knicks message board were saying what a bad trade it was for houston. They were saying hill is a bust and he will be mikki moore version 2.0. Now theyre completely regretting the trade and want him back!
Serge Zwikker?! Im just kidding. But i just looked at the last 14 drafts and out of those top 3 picks only Gilbert was a star, while there was an above average Andy Varedouche Ruben Patterson and Carl Landry, and then a handful of role players Jason Kapono, Roger Mason, Trenton Hassel, Luke Walton, Marko Jaric, and Brandon Bass (some of those were stretches to be deemed quality role players). 10 out of the 42 players taken with the first 3 picks were quality role players or better which is about a 24% hit rate. There were a couple of guys a left of that were borderline like Daniel Ewing and Othella but 25% is about the success rate, which is right about what your saying the Rockets are at. Not saying your wrong about the higher 2nd rounders being more successful but more saying that the 2nd round is just a crapshoot as a whole no matter where you draft really do to teams drafting more on potential
Weird comparison. Especially since Jordan Hill's offensive game was much more polished even coming out of college. Plus his athleticism is on another level. I'd say Dorsey's absolute best case dream scenario would be the next Ben Wallace. A person who's a menacing presence in the middle on defense and garbageman on offense. But even Hill in his rookie year shows more skills on offense than Ben Wallace. As for the Rockets 2nd round picks, Taylor's status is uncertain. He was considered more of a raw project coming out, so we still don't know how he might improve. Also, it's possible he would've been a contributor this year if Buddinger hadn't surprised the hell out of everyone in camp. Them the breaks though.
Landry, Novak, Dorsey, and Taylor. Easy to look it up yourself, topic has been covered many times before on this board. Even the Rockets have said it's a pick they shouldn't waste.
Hill is good. He has potential to be an all star one day. That's why he's a lottery pick. Because he has a good awareness for the game, he has height, length, athleticism, and talent. Give him some more time and the whole off-season to work with Dawson and expect him to be a solid contributor next season. Who knows, we might not need Bosh if Hill can develop into a special player. If he can play the C position, expect him to take the starting Center role down the line when Yao becomes less effective and breaks down again. What makes his future looks brighter than Landry: 1. He's much younger, Landry was drafted at age 23 2. His size, length and his big frame 3. Athleticism 4. His great court awareness 5. Ability to run the floor well. 6. Didn't have any major knee injuries like Landry A few more years and Hill should be playing at an All Star level if he works hard and reach his full potential. That's why he was the 8th pick.
Joey Dorsey isn't a bust. He's a 2nd round pick. Nobody expect much from 2nd rounders. If Dorsey plays really well, then he's a steal. But if he sucked, then he's a second round material. Landry on the other hand was a steal because no one expect much from him and for him to succeed like that, he's a steal. Hill on the other hand, is a much smarter player than Dorsey. Both probably are at the same level in athleticism, and Dorsey is much stronger, but Hill is a better player. Hill has height over Dorsey and he has a good basketball awareness. That's why Hill was a lottery pick and Dorsey was a 2nd round pick.
The one big thing he has over Carl is his ability to crash boards. Carl is a great scorer but his rebounding numbers have never been all that good. This kid has immense potential, and i hope to see him getting over 20 minutes per game in the run in.
