I like Hill but I at this point, I think Adelman will stick with Hayes because he knows what to expect from him. He will play real good post defense and solid overall defense and rebounding. With that being said, it would be nice to see Hill because we desperately need some size, height and shot blocking ability. I wonder what OldManRock has to say about Jordan Hill now? Didnt he say he was going to be a scrub and that he saw nothing special from Jordan Hill? lol.
Although Hill is showing great promise he is lacking in NBA experience and needs to be given every chance to learn the game before being forced to take on the pressure of being a starter. Next season he should blossom!
Next year I see the minutes breaking down like this for our PF & C spots: Yao - 28 minutes Hill - 32 minutes Scola - 36 minutes With Jeffries and Andersen playing situational minutes. Hayes will likely be gone as his contract expires next season if the team doesn't pick up the option. To be honest, I'd rather find a way to get rid of both Jeffries and Andersen and have Hayes stay as the auxilary big. Our sudden glut at PF/C will make the offseason interesting...
Following up with my post. Let me give you some Rookie big men per 36. Chris Bosh 12.3 1.5 8.0 Amar'e Stoudamire 15.5 1.2 10.1 Dejuan Blair 14.9 1.0 7.6 David Lee 11.0 0.6 9.7 Carlos Loozer 14.2 0.9 10.7 You can just go on of course. Now look at Hill's per 36...Yeah...this is one guy I would not trade.
There is a fair chance that three/four of the players which you mentioned won't be with the Rockets next season.
Per 36min numbers can be deceiving, when players have played less than 1500 minutes. per 36 min Nick Fazekas 14.3 1.5 11.9 Eddy Curry 15.1 1.7 8.5 Yao 16.7 2.2 10.2 He's either the next Fazekas/Eddy Curry bust or Yao Ming's replacement as the franchise player..
Well thats true, but the main point is that he has had a good start. Thats all that matters right now. It's also just not his fault the Knicks decided not to play him.
Becoming a great trade chip for Danny Granger? http://www.cbssports.com/nba/story/13063559/future-for-pacers-granger-uncertain-if-not-unrelated
Hayes made like 10 fts in a roll before missing one. He's developing into a shorter version of Yao Ming. No way Hill starts over him.
Rick's too loyal to his players. Theres no way he's gonna start Hill this year. Plus even with a bum knee, Chuck is still the better defender.
Hill is something we havent had in a long long time....a mobile active big. When I saw Hill do that spining hook shot I knew this kid was the real deal. This is guy is so quick and long he will be a player in this league. Once he can consistantly hit that elbow jumper and develop a go to move in the post, theres no reason to believe he cant be the 4-5 here for the next 8+ years. Another thing I noticed today was he completely blocked his defender from fronting him when he had a deep post position. Yao could learn a thing or two from Hill in that department. When you remeber that Hill rotted for the first half of the season in NY and this is his first real chance to play at a professional level, its unreal. Couple that with his reputed hard work ethic, he could be downright scary by year 3. The only down side right now and we are literally running out of playing time for all these guys. We literally have TOO many good players. Budinger, Hill, whomever we draft this year, etc. We are gonna have to package a couple of these good players into one GREAT player. Chase only got 4 minutes tonight, just 4! Man o man, our future is bright.
