Like Farmar ever ran the offense lol. Yes he has "triangle" experience and knows it but this year Phil cut him lose and he/Ariza/Vujacic have been running and gunning. He was making smart decisions earlier in the year but after loses at Indiana and Sacramento where he played out of control, Phil told him to stop running and run the offense (and that was last week). Usually this year when Farmar is on the floor they don't run the offense that much...thats the job of the first unit

The last time someone was supposed to miss a few weeks was Bynum and ended up missing the rest of the year so I'm not too confident on Farmar's return anytime soon. We have a rebounder off the bench who can get it done in Josh Powell so we're not gonna lose production on the glass. Marbury is more than capable of lighting it up and without a doubt a better 2 way player than Farmar or Fisher. We're like what 27th in PG production? So I'm sure Mabury will help us out there. And besides we get Fluke Walton and his toxic contract outta here.

 oh yes he has. that's the only reason he is playing under Phil

why are the NYK not playing its 20+ million employee Marbury? unwilling to play under a team concept has been the main reason.
damn ur a mental midget. Lakers are in first place, but have issues. the main issue is defense.

do you even follow the Lakers  they have lots of ammunition for lighting it up, Kobe and Pau, just to name a few.

    get a Freaking clue

Of course he runs the offense but not as much as the first unit...Farmar was given the green light to do more pick and roll, run and gun and one on one material than "running the triangle offense." When Kobe's on the floor mid/late 4th quarters then yes he "runs the offense" but thats only for a few minutes because Fisher comes in and thats that, otherwise Farmar has the ball and we let his zip and zap and wrec havoc

just because we disagree doesn't mean you have to be immature like a 3 year old who wet his panties.

Have YOU been watching the lakers? who outside of Kobe and Farmar can creat off the dribble? WHO? you tell me? WHO? Lamar Odom can at times but he's far too predictable with his moves...Gasol can do it in his high post but everyone knows he's a poor ball handler on the move

the addition of Marbury would be Huge...he has better physical tools than either Fisher or Farmar to actually play defense and has the lateral quickness to recover in pick and roll situations, which has been the achillees heel of the Lakers this season

Think twice before name calling because you just sounded like a baby

Go go go! Please start a campaign to sign Marbury. He'll be bought any day now anyway! Make sure Mitch signs him Pronto! Can you imagine the Lakers with STARBURY at the helm? He's still one of the most talented pgs in the league. If PJ can handle Rodman, he sure as hell can handle Marbury. Plus it'll be in LA, so the bright lights will definitely suit Starbury's ego and temperament. He'll provide the toughness they lack against the Celts! Starbury will do anything in his power to one-up KG and the Green machine, and Kobe will salivate at a second crack at PP. Think of the drama! The excitement! The subplots! The intrigue! Plus the lakers will really have an allstar line up, with Kobe/STARBURY/Pau/Bynum and Odom. Expect them to win all of their games. Sign. Marbury.Now.

like i said, the mental midget needs to get a clue.

to replace a true point guard in the 2nd unit, earning less than the avg NBA salary, with a gunslinger who has no use for running an offense with a $20+ million price tag.

A 20 million dollar expiring that's gonna take Luke Walton's toxic contract off the books and actually bring a contributor in return for Mr. Lamar Odumb.

take a look at this crybaby

Our PG production is ranked 25th in the league and are you really confident about Farmar's return after this injury? do you know who else suffered the same damn injury? Gilbert Arenas and Robert Swift and they've missed MONTHS because of it...no I'm not saying Farmar's injury is exactly the same as theirs but the last time Laker fans and I kept our hopes up regarding one of our young players' injuries (Bynum), he didn't come back for the rest of the year.

Plus you don't know a thing about the triangle offense...you don't need a true PG, just someone who can penetrate, shoot the ball and take the open shot when available

very, very true. I wouldn't call Farmar a true PG either, anyway.

Plus i heard that Marbury WANTS to be a Laker.

    ^ exactly

When motivated this guy can BALL...he has been on the bench long enough and he's hungry to PROVE other people wrong. A one year rental for Marbury is well worth ti

another one who knows just a tad about Phil and the Triangle offense knows that there is no room of a self-serving gunner---particularly one who loafs at defense---like Starbury.

anyone who knows just a tad about PJax and the Triangle offense knows that, in all of PJax's 9 championship teams, PG production ranks near the bottom.

also, despite a low PG production, the current Lakers are the top scoring team in the NBA. but their defense stats have trend the wrong way.

once again, the Lakers issue is defense, not PG production.

so you tell me? who's got better physical tools to play defense...Farmar, Fisher or Marbury?

if all 3 are motivated to play at the highest level who's gonna give you better results?

We are scoring loads of points mainly because of the pace of the game but we're doing it in an inefficent manner as our FG% has taken a dip. to an extent I agree with you, yes its our defense thats been suffering but part of that has to do with poor shot selection. Opposing guards leaking out after a missed shot and the opposing C/PF throws an outlet to get a 3 on 2 going (Ever sicne the Indiana game our fastbreak points given up has risen dramatically). If we make our shots it gives an extra second or two to get our guys back and get our defense set since the opposing team has to take the ball out and inbound it.

Its a little bit of everything but there is a correlation to our defense suffering because of our poor offense

    a better queston is
    • who have shown the desire to play defense ?
    Fisher and Farmar, not Starbury

has he ever played under a master motivator like Phil Jackson?

he may be poor at motivating young players he has always gotten through to veterans

How is he going to take Luke Walton's contract off the books??

The Knicks have been fairly direct in their moves to dump anything even remotely associated with a bad contract...

So I doubt they'd take anything back for Marbury except expirings?
I guess if you sent Odom/ Mihm and Ariza it might work - but that would put the Knicks at 16 players - and they'd have to buy out someone (Malik Rose?)

Perhaps if the Lakers sent them a draft pick as incentive to do it the Knicks might bite.

But is Marbury worth giving up Odom + Ariza for??

^ I believe the Knicks have 14 roster spots. Also they can buy out Robertson's 700,000 contract and cut him

D'Antoni loves Luke Walton and Odom (yes he has openly said that in the past), Odom's expires this year, they keep Walton till next season and buy him out (15 mil remaining at that point and pay him about 70% of his salary to cut him).

Also if the Knicks sound as desperate to get rid of the "distraction and headache" they'd be willing to take on two players with manageable contracts but more importantly players who D'Amphoney strongly feels can help this team.
