You do realize that Jonny Flynnis more explosive, has better handles, a better creator and better court vision than Dragic right? Aside from T-Will, Flynn is the most explosive player on the Rockets.
The Rockets are fairly well set at the guard position and I predict that Flynn will be a BIG surprise. You heard it here first.
Right now we can't say that Dragic is the first PG off the bench. We'll find out once the season starts because Flynn and Dragic will battle for that back up position. Flynn is really interesting, he has great quickness and show great leadership. He struggled last season because of his injury and never had a chance to recover from it. He's still young and this will be his 3rd NBA season so we can't pass him up just yet. Give it a full season and then we can judge on whether he's good for this team or not. Flynn actually has more potential to be a better player than Dragic. He is talented. He's a lotto pick for a reason. He has the potential to be a better scorer than Brooks, a better floor general and leader. Plus he is a better passer than Brooks. Dragic has size over Flynn but I can guarantee you guys that those two will battle it out for that back up position. Having Flynn on this team is a good thing considering we gave up nothing for him. We'll see how things turn out once the season begins but for now, its a positive thing because McHale will have plenty of option at the point guard position.

Surprisingly Dragic has a HIGHER CAREER 3 point% than Brooks, the 3 point shot being Brooks's best attribute. From the small sample size, it looks like the overall point guard situation with Lowry/Dragic is around as good as Brooks/Lowry. The team isnt losing anything without Brooks.
I think so, too. He has a lot of talent and a big chip on his shoulder to prove to people that he's better than what he has shown. The problem is, where will the minutes come from?
I'm not understanding the parallel, between explosion and being thrown in a trade. Can you help me understand? Also, whether a player is "thrown in" or not, isn't indicative of a players said talent.
Flynn is what Jordan Hill was to the NY trade; Morey just trying to get maximum value along with acquiring his real target (getting rid of Miller and taking Moti). I do not expect him to be anything more than a serviceable 3rd string PG and insurance against injuries and Dragic leaving.
What I don't see from Flynn that I've seen from other guys his size who ahve succeeded is a consistent pullup jumpshot and outside shooting in general. Dragic is inconsistent and erratic offensively, but at least he has the size and effort to be an above-average defender. Flynn needs to be special on offense to justify playing time.
If will have to earn it, but injuries happen. (especially to the Rockets) He will have a chance to shine in practice. Also, I think Courtny Lee may be on the move. Just a vibe, no facts there.
Could someone more familiar with his game please tell me the following about Jonny Flynn: - How well can he get in the paint (creating off the dribble)? - How easily does he draw fouls? - How well does he finish? - How good is his court vision?
If he was all that the T-wolves wouldn't have traded him for Miller. Maybe he's more explosive, but it certainly didn't do anything for him as he's been scoring inefficiently from his rookie year until last year. Minny fans weren't calling Flynn the NBA's worst player for nothing, I think he needs to prove himself first before you give Dragic's spot to him.
Nobody is asking the Rockets to "give" him Dragic's spot, I'm just pointing out that he's more talented than Dragic is. In addition to being more explosive. Truth is, Flynn will have to work for it. He will surprise people this season, I guarantee. From a pure talent standpoint, he's one of the two or three most talented players on our team. Also, your "trade" analogy is stupid. Steve Nash was traded from the Suns. By your logic, Steve Nash never had a chance to be good, because he was traded
I've followed him since he was in HS. He can create of the dribble, get his own shot, and get into the lane at ease. He has a nearly perfect handle on the ball. He is a freak athlete, and can create acrobatic layups, and throw down dunks; but given his small stature he doesn't finish at the highest rate. He also isn't adept at drawing fouls. His court vision is underrated. He has good court vision, but sometimes will go for the flashy pass, instead of making the easy or smart pass.
Anyone playing in that ****hole of a city would suck. They have absolutely no offensive direction. Players are literally playing streetball out there. The team has the decent talent, but nobody is maximizing it.
Youtube isn't indicative of a players total skill set. But from these video's you can get a sample of what he can bring to the table:
Getting johnny flynn does absolutely nothing for us. Morey's strategy in bringing in undersized point guards is ridiculous, especially when that wasn't a position of need.
