I see Feigen working here, but I don't see that scenario playing out.

Orlando would love to have Rashard, but I am not so sure they are THAT in love with him that they would forgo Darko.

Word is that new coach, Stan Van Gundy really like Darko and wants to do a twin tower lineup with him and Howard. So, I think they keep Darko. I bet Darko gets the same type deal that Wilcox and Gooden got last year, that 3 year 24M deal.

Ultimately I think Orlando probably is looking for more of a 2/3 wing scorer (or scoring PG) than a 3/4 combo forward like Rashard. Basically, someone that can create their own shot.

look guys....wht darko is horrible at was his offensive decisions....he seemed too eager to showcase himself and had horrible shot selection that had my friend whos a magic fan scream at him all the time.

but hes good on the defensive end, albeit a little foul prone...much like chuck hayes earlier. Its very possible to teach him that. plus....his rebounding numbers is better than what his stats show. I've seen the kid play....he can rebound well....def much better than howard.....u guys hav to rmb that hes rebounding against dwight howard night in and night out.

I agree having a guy with his size would allow the Rockets to kill two birds with one stone. He could slide over to the 5 and make room for others at the 4. Darko is still a risk, but he's improved a lot since he gets to play now and not just sit on the bench.

I'd definitely be willing to roll the dice with Darko. He's so young and on a $5-8M a year contract he would still be moveable if things didn't work out.

Feigen is a company man [Rockets]. Even though he tries to make the reader think that he is writing as a fantasy fan dreaming of what could be or might be, do not be deluded by his writing.
My interpretation of this article says to me- don't expect the Rockets to put together a great team. Les is not going to pay the Lux Tax under any consideration not even for another great player to put the team over the hump.
We should realize this already by the bringing back of James that they are only looking at second and third rate players. :p
Ps. If the Rockets were focused on having a great team they would now be trying to get Kobe Bryant from LA Which would mean a major rebuilding, but who wouldn't want to come to play with Kobe and Yao Ming?

    would love Darko,

we can't afford a 10million/yr all star PF anyway, why not use MLE on Darko and see what happens?
He has a reliable J, can defend and rebound pretty well, is a very good shot blocker. That's exactly what we need.

He can be our starting PF and backup C..

yes, his offense is not that great, he still needs to learn some post moves, but with Yao in the line up, we don't really need our PF to do those things.

Darko for the MLE would be a no brainer. Obtain a young, tall PF with a tremendous upside, and still keeping Battier and our other trade assets? Again, a no brainer.

Darko wouldn’t be my first choice with the MLE (I’d rather spend it on one of the many quality swingmen available and use Battier/Alston to get a 4) but, the power forward position MUST be addressed, and if we can’t address it via trade, than signing Darko wouldn’t be a bad idea.

Good Post. Darko is talented but he is a finesse player. A 4 with POWER and quickness is needed.

For some reason, I have the distinct feeling that either P.J. Brown or Joe Smith is in the Rockets' future.

Uhh.. don't go accusing people of assumptions when it's not deserved.

Darko can shoot it out to 18 feet at least. His shot has been off since he came to Orlando because his coaching staff there (and in Detroit practices supposedly) has tried to turn him into a post player.. and he just hasn't developed those moves. But it took him out of his comfort zone and he lost some touch on his shot. But he has the ability. (I don't count most of his Detroit PT cause it wasn't consistent)

BUT...his problem has been consistency. The guy is playing like a rookie still..not able to sustain high energy/high level of play. He still shows flashes.. and he's more of a guy to take a flier on just like you would a rookie. Maybe he'll pan out, maybe he won't...but that's not worth being your main option at starting PF or $5 mil plus over a long period.

Are you kidding me? Camby would be a PERFECT fit around Yao. He is a elite rebounder and shot blocker. Of course there is an element of risk involved, otherwise he wouldn't be obtainable. You don't win playoff rounds in the West with the likes of Milicic and Hayes, but it is probable if Camby works out. Get riddy of Batty and get Camby.

Camby is a good fit to Yao ONLY when he is healthy, which he never is, he missed 1 out of every 4 games on averge. You really don't know when he is going to be injured again, he might get hurt in the playoff, in the regular seaon, or even last the 10 minutes of game 7.. That's hella risk and not worth a healthy Shane Battier in my book..

Skills wise, Nene is not as good as Camby, so if Denver is trading Camby before Nene, then you should know something is wrong..

Then of course, if Denver only ask for Rafer/Head type of players, then I would say yes, but not Battier...

does anyone think how different things would have been if Detroit had drafted a different player? i mean they might not have won the chip in 04... chemistry, more than anything in the league, wins.

and as for darko? id rather not, but if hes the only option, then it could be an upgrade? iono... im not completely sold on that theory either.

Well in that case we should probably trade Tmac and Yao too because they ALSO have a history of injury and missing games. Shane Battier is a good little roleplayer, but way overrated on this board. He doesn't bring the tangibles needed to win big. Camby for Battier is a steal.

HA... I'll take that bet. Chuck Hayes is a good role player but not even 6th man material.

I think would thrive under Rick A's system. If you look at his game log, you will see that when he plays at least 30 mins. he puts up some decent numbers. Surprising was the number of block he complied in some of these games, so cool down on the terrible defensive game quotes.
