Don't see anything about him losing it, but the show isn't that great. His stand-up on the other hand is very funny.
It's funny when you look back at his time. Thank jebus he made the choice to leave. The Daily Show would likely be long gone. Imagine the careers that were started via the Daily Show and Stewart. It's not that hard to figure the careers of Colbert, Carrel, Helms, etc., etc. would have taken vastly different paths.
I think Kilborn spends every day of his life golfing, binge drinking and banging whatever female staff is around at either of those venues.
It's on hiatus and they reduced the episode order. Mulaney himself said he didn't know if it was ever coming back, but that he's going on tour right away. Fox certainly changed the landscape with Idol, but beyond that they've never had the credibility to draw viewers to their scripted sitcoms.
Confirmed. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>Thank you Jon. <a href="http://t.co/yPdxjnkuLw">pic.twitter.com/yPdxjnkuLw</a></p>— Comedy Central (@ComedyCentral) <a href="https://twitter.com/ComedyCentral/status/565296357792284676">February 10, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> Should be mentioned on tonight's episode.
yeah, stewart is taking home between $25 and $30 mil/yr according to this site, olive is making $2... guess it wouldn't be much to pay him, but i agree, i don't think he's leaving HBO http://variety.com/2013/tv/news/who-are-the-highest-paid-stars-in-tv-1200585236/ http://www.celebritynetworth.com/richest-celebrities/richest-comedians/john-oliver-net-worth/
Crazy. The most trusted news program in the nation. I want them to hire someone off the wall. Bomani Jones!
This just in: The news is ******* depressing. The Daily Show is most certainly Jon's vision and his personality. He openly shows compassion and a steadfast moral character. But there is a cabal of writers who do the terrific research and production. The potential to continue the great work will remain viable, but it will be hard for anyone to develop the credibility, sincerity and trust Jon has within a satire context. A host could easily appear too snarky and show contempt for the absurd conditions he examines.
That's unbelievable. I guess they get great demographics and consistent ratings at an off-time (with multiple broadcasts?). Also I guess that's every day instead of once a week. I remember Stewart in the mid-90s, there's really nothing else he could have done professionally at the time that would have eventually generated that kind of cash.
they'll probably get it from all the life they have ahead of them. Damn whippersnappers and their youth!
Not bad when you consider getting your news from Fox, CNN, or MSNBC is like learning about WW2 from M*A*S*H.
I kind of agree. But they do not claim to be a news show. Getting your news from fox news is like learning about WW2 from the nazi and communist propaganda videos.
News is just on to sell commercial time. What you get from TDS is an interpretation of news, you're not after the what, you're after the moral judgement. That's why it it's not a news show, it's an opinion show. Somebody somewhere has to have a set of morals to measure right and wrong against. TDS sustains a trustworthy metric of humanism, egalitarianism, democracy and healthy self-deprecation. That's one reason replacing Jon will be so delicate. You can't put just any jokester in there and maintain the credibility. You've got to walk the walk, like not avoiding the embarrassment of good friends like Weiner and Williams.
