    reasons why it's a big deal

    1) it's the red sox
    2) it's a cancer survivor
    3) it's the first boston no-no in half a century, and the 18th in sox history
    4) he's like, 22
    5) it's the first one of 2008 (of which there will only be maybe 3)
    6) can you throw ~120 pitches in a night in MLB and manage no hits?

    don't hate. it's an achievement. you can still root for the 'stros and respek this.

    Yup, Mel Parnell was the last lefty before Lester to throw one for the Red Sox and he did it in 1956.
