Clyde: "Not only that, but you've got prostate cancer."

What's your grade for Jon Barry tonight?

Is it just me, or did Clyde seem better playing off of Barry?

I thought all three of them together is not a good idea. Barry is not as 'active' as he normally is on radio. I think he's trying not to 'step over toes' too much as far as Drexler is concerned...he seemed to not fully embrace his role tonight.

If I had the decisive vote, it would be Murph, hands down! However, since that doesn't seem likely to happen anytime soon, I would take either Bull full-time or JB doing the home games.

yea, seems like Clyde is relaxed with Barry. I heard a bit of them at the end of the 3rd and with them talking about Juwon's wife, to Wesley being "out of shape" in the beginning of season. Pretty funny stuff. Also when Clyde was telling Barry to still play, but just had to play for a good team where he only needed to play 5-10mins a half and busted out he could do that now. :p

Jon Barry's style kind of reminded me of Tom Tolbert. Conversational, good sense of humor, not heavy on analysis.

Not bad for a first time.

From the little of the game that I watched I picked this up also. It seems that when Barry started talking about more specific basketball plays that Clyde jumped in with his knowledge about the game. Maybe he tries to dumb it down because he thinks that the common fan is an idiot.

I, for one, like to hear basketball strategy from the commentator's, and not the typical, "great passing leads to easy baskets" analysis.

Great to have him still around. Yet I still hope that he hadn't retired that early.

I'm with you. I like announcer that makes you a more knowledgable fan. Teaches you something you didn't know otherwise.

    Amen to the last paragraph.

I also want to add that this is jon's first outing - what he did on Wednesday was expected. I hope he does not take the ESPN gig so that we can be at least guaranteed that he will nudge off Clyde. Clyde is the worst color guy I have ever seen or heard. The worst! Even worst that worst, he brings bad karma - thereby contributing to our sad season.

    RACIST!!! ;) :p

I didn't think I'd watch another Rockets game this season (two headed attack of Howard and Alston? ehhh I'll pass) but with Barry on I might catch one of the last 3. Is he finishing the season or was this a trial run for next season?

Clyde's so bad as a broadcaster, they should take his championship ring away.

Clyde was better with Barry. that surprised me. he got clyde to really open up and give his opinion. now I understand why clyde and barkley didn't get along. I always knew chuck was opinionated, never knew that about clyde.

when they got into the "debate" about drafting Reddick, barry said he wasn't big enough (which was kind of funny because barry is undersized) and clyde said something like who can hit open shots on the team now.

but did you catch the discussion when bill talked about juwon's wife, and clyde said he over-achieved, and then one of them, I think bill mentioned rafer's wife and how she looked. that was pretty funny. that's what I miss from calvin, the off color commentary that you got ever once in a while. then before half, they were talking about highlights, and bill was saying they only have one, of chuck hayes hustling. that was pretty funny.

seriously, they need to jus let Bull and Bill do all the games. Everybody else is jus not the same. Bull fits in like he's been there for years
