i think some of you guys are misreading walton. he was clearly joking when he said his team practiced jump balls all the time. everything he says is either coated with 20 layers of sarcasm, or is a hyperbole. now if you dislike him because of that, then that makes sense. but to dislike him because you think he's being condescending or self-righteous? im pretty sure even he doesn't believe half the things he says.

Yeah. Walton is more like a comedy act than a straight commentator, and I think Barry was just playing off of that in his own way. I didn't detect any tension or real mockery between the two of them.

i actually love bill walton's stuff. even if he is kinda idiotic sometimes, it's pretty obvious that he does it for kicks. his comments are just priceless, like when lebron smashed a dunk on a fastbreak he said "oh! the posterization of the imaginary defender!"

    good stuff. haha!

I love JB, and if Calvin couldn't return, would love for him to do the Rockets games with Bill. (if he could be signed away from ESPN, no sure thing at all) As for Walton, I get a kick out of him. It cracks me up how people take so much of the stuff he says seriously, when he's deliberately being a hipster doofus.

I love it when Jon Barry covers Rockets games cuz nearly every game, he'll have a slipup where he 'objectively' refers to the Rockets as "Us" or "We" before catching himself. "We gotta...the Rockets gotta take care of the ball better."

I'm sure JB is going to bail on cush gig doing a couple games a week on national TV to do 82+ locally with the Rockets. I bet it pays less too!

I listened and finally saw what some of you guys have liked about Jon Barry. I though he was horrible last year and kind of annoying. However, I admit I was wrong. He was funny, informative, self confident and self deprecating. He is an engaging commentator and a worthy foil of the "hippie doofus" Walton.

I agreed with the poster that said if you are taking Walton's shtick seriously you are missing all the fun. Almost everything he is saying is meant for laughs at some level.

I think Snapper and Bill probably really didn't like each other since they were CONSTANTLY disagreeing with each other over every little thing. Barry's approach seems to wear better on the viewer.

Bill Walton was an ex-doped head that's why. But i love the guy, especially, when he says so many good things about Yao Ming!

Jon Barry gets a lot of love from Htown! Guy was great! True ex-Rockets that still has fire on him, coming back to the Rockets.
