I'd be my life savings that short of a catastrophic injury, there's no way Johnson signs for that little. If only because the Knicks pony up twice that in a heartbeat.

I'd like some of what you're smoking.

Johnson wants an extension so he can penetrate with Wade. Should give Miami fans tons to be excited about.

He's not getting offered more than $10-$11 million per season after his poor playoff performance. Just because the Knicks have handed out some absurd contracts in the past does not mean they will continue to do so future. Isiah is gone.

He may agree to take a little less to contend with the Heat if he sees they have a legit shot at winning it. Plus, it's Miami.

You can effectively disagree with someone without insulting him/her.

And that's around what Riley is hoping to sign Johnson for. He will for over a couple extra million if that's what it takes.

    Dude.

Joe makes 14.9 million right now. You reeaaly think he's gonna take a pay cut and play for 8.5 million per?

That's probably not what his agent or he is hoping for.

    Joe's playoff numbers:

    PPG 17.9
    RPG 5.10
    APG 5.0
    3.5 FTA
    EFF+ 15.09

    2.3 TOs

    0.387 FG%
    0.220 3FG%

Why on earth does this guy deserve more than $10 million? Maggette put up better numbers in less minutes and got 5 years, $50 million. He was the same age when he received his contract as Johnson is this off season. Both have a history of injuries.

70 games vs. 76 by Joe
    22.1 PPG
    45.8 FG%
    38.4 3FG%
    5.6 RPG
    2.7 APG
    10 FTA

Ray Allen will get more, not Joe Johnson.

Who are you proposing a sign and trade for? Wade? Cause I know there is nobody else on that team worth giving up Martin for. But to say the Heat would S&T wade in order to acquire a shooter is a bit paradoxical, since the original point of them wanting a shooter was to pair that shooter with Wade. I guess we can dream though ;)

I meant having Miami sign Joe Johnson and trade him to us for Kevin Martin. I say this because unlike Bosh, I don't think the Hawks or any other team(except maybe NY in S&T if they're desperate) will give him in the hometown max of 6yr/130 mil.

A contract starting at $10 mil is 5yr/$65 mil. Which would be 50% more than what you're proposing. For the sake of argument, even assuming that JJ's not worth more than that, why would he take $20 mil less and become a 3rd option in Miami?

I agree to that bet only if Ray Allen signs for less than 2 years. He's 36 and at this point he will take less money for a longer contract.

    Bet?

Well, maybe we can S&T for wade for Martin+package and the Heat can sign JJ? They'd have a swingman combo of JJ and Martin who complement each other perfectly. Shooter/Slasher, On the ball/Off the ball, Defense/flopping, its all there lol...

Damn, just heard on the local Atlanta ABC news that Joe has been reportedly offered a 6 year/90 million dollar contract by the Hawks!

The Hawks might as well let him go cuz he is not worth a Max contract.

    That's LeBron money right there!

Yes. And to be crystal clear, are you saying Ray will mak more per year than JJ, or Ray will get a raise based on what ge made this year and JJ will not?

I'll take it either way, or both ways for 40$.

You're completing ignoring the fact that Bosh has come out and explicitly stated that he doesn't want to go somewhere only to take a backseat to Lebron or Wade.

Dead wrong. JJ will indeed get offered more than $11 million/year long term. You have to remember it isn't about what you think he's worth, it's how much a team will pay him.

Joe Johnson sucks. But he's going to get paid.
