Also, according to the Chronic, he agreed to a plea bargain in which he pled guilty to the 2008 charge. If his probation is revoked, it will turn into a 20-year sentence.

Green Bay Packers defensive lineman Johnny Jolly pleaded guilty to narcotics charges today in exchange for five years probation, beginning with a 90-day stint in a drug treatment center.
Jolly, 28, who lives in Houston, appeared in state District Judge Denise Bradley’s court in an orange jail uniform and pleaded guilty to one of two allegations he faced in connection with being caught with bottles of liquid codeine.
Bradley agreed to put him on deferred adjudication, which if successfully completed, means Jolly will not have a conviction on his record.
If his probation is revoked, Bradley can sentence him to a maximum of 20 years in prison.
In August Jolly agreed to pretrial diversion, a form of probation that would have resulted in dismissed charges after a year, for a 2008 arrest for codeine possession.
In March, the Cadillac Escalade he was driving was pulled over because tinted windows were too dark. Jolly was again arrested after police saw a bottle of codeine in the sport utility vehicle.
Jolly pleaded guilty today to the 2008 charge, a second-degree felony. The March charge was dismissed. Jolly also was fined $500 and must perform 240 hours of community service.
For the next five years, he also can not go to clubs or bars, drink alcohol or associate with several people, including his half-brother and two cousins, who were connected to the drug allegations.
Jolly is expected to check-in to former NBA player and coach John Lucas’ Houston rehabilitation center Monday. In court before the plea bargain, Lucas answered the judge’s questions about his facility.
The NFL suspended Jolly for the 2010 season for violating the league’s substance abuse policy for the 2008 arrest. Carl Moore, his attorney, said he did not know how today’s developments would affect Jolly’s career.
Jolly played football at Forest Brook High School then Texas A&M before being drafted by Green Bay in 2006.

No jail time despite violating a prior probation sentence for having the EXACT SAME DRUG in his possession. Looks like the legal system nailed this one, lol.

Not to say he should go away for life for codeine, but no jail time at all?

Probation that will turn into 20 years if revoked seems like a pretty good incentive not to get caught again.
