I get the sentiment, well, assuming the Depp side is correct, I get that. What surprises me to a certain extent is the in-depth fandom. It's similar to the "Free Britney" people. Who are these people? There's so much time being spent on deep dives and evidence hunting to support Depp or Britney. These are older stars are not from the modern social media generation, and they're maintaining equivalent passion in their following. Part of me just things there may be a troll farm involved, but I guess there are simply a lot of obsessed super fans out there. What happens to the Free Britney people now that she's free? What are these people going to obsess over next?

It seems Johnny Depp's mother is on trial..... and I think they are going to throw the book at her.

The problem with this trial is that she wrote or co-wrote an opinionated article in the Washington Post in which she did not mention Depp by name and it is hard to pinpoint.

She might have dropped 2 sentences about her own abuse case that is why it is so extremely tough to win this defamation case, hard to see the relevance with Depp's situation.

It is about libel and quite personally I find it hard to see massive libel here, maybe reluctantly.

Depp's witness testimony was quite informative, narrated his upbringing, his childhood with an abusive mother Betty Sue, a master class on how he invented and portrayed Jack Sparrow, his time with his kids Lily Rose and Jack Depp, Vanessa, his friendship to Hunter S. Thompson, the making of the Rum Diary, casting of Amber and him vividly meeting with her and kissing her.

Above all, him taking pills and drugs due to self medication and numbing of pain. Amber Heard turning into a harpy adding to his distress.

He loses this and he could still turn this around in the eye of the public.

 

He could have saved his career by not doing that cologne commercial. Saaaavaaage.

As far as the trial, never seen a defamation case, but it feels more like a documentary. Just tell whatever story you want. It is interesting though. I will be curious to see how the lawyers pull all of this into an argument.

It seems like there is little objection, like when he said, We gave her the role because it looked like she could kill me, lol. That sounds like something a lawyer should be yelling objection too.
