http://www.myfoxla.com/dpp/sports/john-wooden-20100603 Some reports on twitter have said he has passed but nothing has been confirmed. UPDATE - GaryParrishCBS Source told CBSSports.com just now that Coach Wooden is alive before adding "but it's a matter of moments."
fox6sports BREAKING @fox6sports NEWS - #UCLA's legendary head coach, John Wooden has passed away at the age of 99.
Washington Post reported that he died 55 minutes ago. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/gallery/2010/06/03/GA2010060304369.html
This gallery was published prematurely with a headline saying that John Wooden had died. He is in the hospital, according to several published reports. John Wooden, newly announced head basketball coach at UCLA, is shown with his wife, Nell, at their home in Terre Haute, Ind., on April 20, 1948.
Coach John Wooden is the greatest coach who ever lived and one of my biggest role models. He'll have my (and many other) prayers.
its just a matter of time Coach wouldnt be around here forever. I hardly saw him at the games this year something was wrong going to Pauley and looking over and not seeing Coach in his seat. One of the greatest moments of my studies at UCLA was being able to meet him and having him sign my pyramid of success. A great coach, a legendary person. I hope Coach pulls through
Most people don't even get to live until they are 99 years old, so John Wooden should consider himself lucky. He did a lot of great things with his life and should have no regrets at all. I believe he should die a happy man.
Heaven must need a coach. What a life. Coach Wooden is one of the greatest men to ever be connected to basketball. He will be remembered as long as there is hardwood.
Its strange that a person that I have never met still had a large impact on my life through his books, philosophy and actions in life. Greatest coach ever and as someone said earlier, an even better person.
He passed away last night. EDIT: I take that back... just read that those reports were premature? What the hell? I guess he's still alive but still in "grave" condition.
