I'd welcome him being returned to Washington too, but I wouldn't give up a single asset to make it happen. Nor would I take back any contracts that extend longer than his own.
Something needs to happen with him. If the Rockets let him rot again on the bench, I'd get my agent to make a fuss with the league. Sure, Wall's making the money, and we're getting the high lottery pick again, but he deserves to play, somewhere (else). Unless he wants a full contract buyout.
And he can. He just has to negotiate a buyout. Players force their way off of teams all the time now. Why can't a team force a player into a buyout?
Uneven leverage. If a team forces a player to sit, they still get paid. If a player chooses to sit, the team doesn't get their services and still has to pay them. This is why players love guaranteed contracts. It's also why players sign fat extensions with teams they don't want to be on. They can just sit and force their way out and still get paid. Have their cake and eat it too.
He meant Wall would be more known for thuggish life in prison than being a player. Not my words. But unlikely. Gilbert Arenas is talking basketball again!
If you want something, often you have to give up something, Want to go to Washington? Fine, discount a buy out.
But isn't that even more reason a team should be allowed to do this? They are still paying him. Why should anybody be able to tell them how to utilize him? It's their money.
I wonder if Wall, after sitting out a year, would be amendable to coming off the bench or playing a reduced role than what he’s used to. And I wonder if the Rockets would be willing to let him play after seeing that having an actual pg is a good thing. Hopefully we can get rid of Wood and Ego, doubt Schroeder is back. Having a vet like wall and an actual pg next year may be a good thing, especially if they decide KPJ may be better off ball.
Stone convincing Wall to sit was one of his better moves this year. This Rockets team is logged jam with guards. We hear lot people here, clamoring to have Gordon/Schroder taking a step back, because... outside of just "development", team needs to know which young guards to keep (developing). (Nix/JC/Green/KPJ/Garrison). Brooks (young) and Augustin (vet) are already gone. There's still not enough minutes to go around. Knowing how much Silas love his vets, this is one decision Stone can make for Silas, and Silas don't have to be the "bad" guy.
Why do I get the sense that someone is stalling or there is a communication problem........ Let's see what the offseason brings. It sure seems the Rockets are avoiding a full contract buyout, remains to be seen what their ideal amount would be. No leak of negotiations
Report: John Wall would consider playing for any nba team… but no GM would consider trading for him confirmed.. sauces
