I'm hoping trouble isn't brewing and he's referring to something else, but I think it's just a matter of time before this gets uncomfortable. I said it at the time of the awkward press conference... I could see Wall playing nice up to the trade deadline but I can't see him, as a competitor, throwing an entire season away.
Let him play after the trade deadline. With maybe 3 wins, we should be well on our way to a top 4 pick by then. Hell, maybe he increases his trade value for the summer.
But has anyone who’s worth the MLE ever walked away from $40-something million a year? I don’t know if John Wall is that guy. He will whine if he’s not traded but the answer is obviously to give up a significant amount of money. Having a $40m expiring and boatload of picks in 2022 is more beneficial than saving 5-10m in a buyout. He has to provide incentive.
Let’s not act like Wall has no agency here. If he’s so unhappy, he can take a pay cut in a buyout and play for Miami tomorrow. no one wants you at 44+47 million dude
He's not going to sit patiently and "do what's best for this team". These people aren't stock options to hold on to. Trade him or play him.
John Wall was an overall first pick, all star, It's a weird situation that he's not dressing for a 1-15 team. Something's got to give.
He doesn't need to play. What stone needs to do is move quicker and find a trade partner. Playing Wall is definitely not the answer!
The Rockets offense is so disorganized that every player don't know what to do. Point Guards organize off of broken plays and create offense by opponents defensive schemes. KPJ is disappointing, he can't play PG, he is more of a 6th man if he fixes his 3 Point Shot.
So my opinion is—and I’m definitely open to changing it—that a John Wall or Larry Johnson type career is about the minimum you should expect out of a highly touted first pick. All-star, one or two all-nba selections, and a great but not hall-of-fame resume. Did Wall live up the the high school hype? Probably not. But overall a good career in my eyes.
He needs to work with our youngins during practice, and ride the pine while keeping his mouth shut about it off the court....collect his 40+million...not make any waves...as agreed. Dude's handled it pretty well so far.
It sounded good on paper, but when you realize KPJ is trash, and we are paying Wall all that money, and he’s heathy, it’s a really stupid move. But the Rockets are a bad org, so it fits.
Considering his talent, he should have been close to a Chris Paul. Even Russell Westbrook ish, I know people hate him but the career accolades are still pretty good. Same with his pal Boogie Cousins.
What if this is all a 4d chase move to stack up as many losses at the start of the season so we can win more games in the backend of the season and end on a high note without hurting our lottery chances as much.
I think Wall had a better career than Boogie Cousins. Though I'll always feel bad for Boogie. It's a shame for him to lose his career to injuries.
