Of course not. In her case, she'd simply wait for the finished product to be presented to her, dance a jig, and collect her check. All she's ever cared about is the money.
Perhaps it's just the conservative movement poisoning the entire political system, but it's quite sad that there's no one with the smoothness of Clinton these days. Someone who both seems likeable and smart at the same time. Bush and Obama are divisive. Al Gore and McCain(post-2000 version) lacked the charisma. And the current Republican field is filled with those that only cater to the lowest common denominator.
I don't know if it is right to say that Clinton was not "divisive" as a President. Remember when the Republicans tried to impeach his ass? Good times. I also remember Rush Limbaugh kept track of his Presidency by opening his show with "America Under Occupation Day # ___" each morning. Clinton was and is a smooth and charming guy, but he didn't exactly make the GOP like him much back in the day. Seems the only difference is the GOP has been seized by its Ayn Rand worshipping wing during the last few years.
I meant more about his position to the people rather than to the GOP. I remember the whole Newt shutdown thing, whitewater, and of course Monica. But he was able to maintain a pretty high approval rating throughout and got stuff passed. And that the GOP kind of had to give way a bit because they couldn't get public sentiment against Clinton. Of course, the economy was booming at the time, so I don't know how much of it was just Clinton himself or the environment. Whatever it was, it certainly beats the current atmosphere.
My point is though the reason Bill Clinton is appearing on the daily show is to promote his book. Yes he believes in those things I'm sure, and yes he worked hard on the book. But he wouldn't be out there on late night television speaking to a friendly audience if he didn't have a book to sell. And as much as he is idealistic, you don't see him campaigning for any democrat who espouses his values - he campaigns for his friends or guys who have done him favors. You don't see him attacking republican ideology or appearing on Fox news...
I don't think Bill needs Stewart to sell books. Bill likes the platform, but anything Bill puts out is going to be a number 1 best seller because Bill is the greatest politician move of us have ever seen.
Here's a commentary on the Stewart-Pelosi interview. The quotations, I think, show that Stewart did go after Pelosi and was frank and fair: http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2011/11/why-nancy-pelosi-exasperates-jon-stewart/248304/
