    How can the Chronicle afford to get him first class seats? They need to spend more money hiring writers that can piece together coherent sentences.

    UPDATE

    I'm off the plane...we landed safely in Indianapolis

    The guy he was sitting next to was Mike Maccagnan, one of the Texans' scouts

    They chatted the whole time about the NFL. I listened to some of it, then found myself having several pinot grigios while I chilled in my first class seat

    Some of the highlights they discussed:

    --The importance of chemistry in the locker room – Dunta brought it down; Fred Bennett also mentioned; Jets given as a negative example

    --Talked about the idea of finding "mean" players

    --McClain asked about the WR from Notre Dame – Maccagnan didn't have a strong opinion on him

    --Talked about Kareem Jackson – didn't catch that entire conversation

    --Talked highly of Kubes' ability to lead the team

    --Other comments: McClain asked for only glasses of ice to drink....and he enthusiastically said "SURE!" when asked if he wanted the cold plate of cheese, fruit, chicken/noodles and crackers

    Gotta love the "I'm in first class too" drops and "drinking pinot grigio" lines. I got upgraded to philly this week!! look at me!!

    For such a baller, get a better camera phone if your gonna stalk some loser chronicle writer that noone cares about.

    indeed the blackberry torch is a true POS

    combination of dirty lens, moving plane in one pic and a moving walkway in another all contributed to this

    next time I'll bring my Andre Agassi canon eos for you guys

    Seems there are two options that a normal man would take. Either, care so little that you just mentally note "Oh, that's Texans beat writer John McLain" and go on with your life.

    The other is to care enough to try to overhear his conversations, make a thread, and report back to ClutchFans. Except usually that would be accompanied by, I don't know. Asking to take a picture with him or of him. Caring enough to start a thread only to take a couple pictures of his bald spot is pretty weaksauce.

    But hey congrats on being able to afford, or pretend to afford on the internet, a first class plane ticket and guzzle a couple glasses of the free wine they offer. Since the emphasis of that is, apparently, the main point of this exercise. I am in awe of your thunderous wealth and cosmopolitan cachet.

    McClain has a reason to ride first class -- he doesn't fit in economy. Maybe it's the same thing with bigtexxx, because frankly, that's probably the only legitimate reason to do so since riding first class is utterly overrated.

    I fit in economy just fine

    first is alright, it's not an experience of a lifetime or anything like that, but if you have to fly commercial, it will do
