Nicely done. It came across extremely straightforward.. more than you ever hear in an interview. Something I can easily respect, and it definitely makes me like him more even though I've never realy seen an interview by him before

and he had some funny **** in there! haha

well i didn't care for him before, but that was awesome. i appreciate candidness as opposed to vapid, superficial answers.

haha I didn't think John Mayer had the balls to say stuff like that. That article was great. He gets mad props from me!

This vid was also pretty damn funny.

I think its great that he has the balls to say things that I hate. I LOVE being shocked and having the world that I want to save being turned upside down. It deserves it.

This was the most insightful and true thing he said about himself in the interview.

Firstly, how does he have a "hood pass" anyway? The "hood pass" question was ridiculous and his answer was just as ignorant. I see that he was trying to make a point but he could have went about it a better way. He apparently apologized at his concert, while holding hands with all his black band members . I don't get why so many people are praising him. He didn't say anything insightful. The Jessica part was funny but c'mon, folks are acting like hes the only one that speaks candidly. Other folks that speak candidly like Mayer get roasted like nuts in the winter.

To me there is a divide in how blacks/minorities see a statement like that compared to white people. That's in general and not at all all-encompassing. I immediately saw what was wrong with his statement, but others started praising his candidness or something. It's also mostly an internet thing. Most wouldn't agree with that statement in public if I read it correctly.

After looking at it again, perhaps he was saying that by the people saying "hood pass" it was just a step down from saying "n-----" pass and it was disrespectful to say so?

Either way, he felt the need to apologize for it. Whether it was a PR stunt or he truly felt he was wrong afterwards, there was something wrong with his statement there to the point he needed to publicly apologize apparently with his black bandmates.

People still don't think there was something wrong with that particular part of his statement though?

    I hate this.
A White guy can come out and say the most racist crap in all the world
    but
if he can find some black guy to stand next to him while he apologizes
all is suppose to be forgiven and life is good

    This may not be you
This may not be John Mayer

but I get sick and tired of hearing
how Stupid Remark Maker pulls out his Token Black friend(s)
    to say . . SEE . . I'm not Racist. . I didn't mean nothing by it
See you I am kewl with you-People

Kiss-and-tell is pretty weak. Though he didnt get into any particular detail about it, and was very complimentary actually.

People like John Mayer there's a "wait-for-it" approach you have to take. He's going to spew out nonsense until he gets a favorable comment to stick. And he got one through with "underground dis track".

    It doesn't matter.

Shocking trumps offensive in the liberal world view, unless is REALLY offends liberal sensibilities. p*rn is cool with liberals. Admitting to liking p*rn is shockingly awesome as it offends conservative sensibilities. Offending black people is wrong but it will take a back seat in this instance. We have a black president after all, mission accomplished. Offending gay people is the number one offense these days. That wouldn't be excused, it would have to be extremely ironically funny.

Black folks absolutely LOVE John Mayer.

Of course its the love for his music but also the realness in what he says and how he talks. That's what its all about, being real, and being yourself; he doesn't really handle himself the way a regular celebrity does. He says whats on his mind and lives with it.

    That's how you get respect.

I'm probably going to lose mad indie cred, but I really enjoyed Mayer's first album.

Anyways there was this story back in December of how Mayer made racist comments about this Pakistani comedian named Kumail Nanjiani after Mayer bombed during his own stand up set.
