Oh I agree completely. I'm really impressed with Morey. And what I really love is that some of these moves seem so gigantic they're almost Isiah Thomas like, but you know they aren't like that at all. Morey has done his homework. He's done his research. He knows he's getting value and he has a plan. I love it.
Troy Murphy has a god awful contract as well as Dunleavy. I don't know what the Warriors were thinking when they gave them those contracts. I would like to have Jeff Foster on this team though unless we think Hayes is just as good.
trade him for a roster spot or something.. Oh you can't do that? save a spot by giving him away then.
I kind of feel we should give him to orlando for free, since we basically robbed them. Its the least we can do.
I think credit should be given to Morey. Some of you speak as if everything just fell on to his lap. You have to understand that we had one of the least to work with in terms of improving our team. Given that, I think he did an absolutely outstanding job and yet we still have pieces to move around despite all the changes. Everybody else had the same opportunities to get the pieces we got, yet somehow we were the only ones that capitalized on them with absolutely minimal costs, insteading of going out and signing a player for $120 Million - perhaps this is more than just a coincidence? To me, its like saying somehow the ones that drafted Amare/Wade/Agent Zero/Mobley/Kobe/Parker/Ginobli got extremely lucky because the other teams that picked before them neglected to draft them... Or to say that the inidividuals that traded for or signed Boris Diaw/Caron Butler/Steve Nash/Rasheed Wallace for cheap or at fair value were just lucky because the counterparties were idiots. Luck is always involved in having opportunities appear, the true test of the manager is if and how they capitalize on them.
While I'm sure that the Spurs were indeed fortunate to have some things go their way, that fact is that you just don't win 4 NBA Championships just because you are merely "lucky". You have to be doing SOMETHING right. On the other hand, a team doesn't wind up in the NBA lotto 4 times just because it is "unlucky" as well - it has to be doing SOMETHING wrong. Honestly, I cannot understand why it is so very hard for people here to admit that the Spurs organization is a very good organization and that they deserve all of the success they've received. Doing so doesn't make you any less of a Rockets fan. Instead I see post after post that tries to dismiss or diminish what they've been able to accomplish and I think that instead of downplaying what they have done, we should be trying to emulate them. That, to me, is far more productive. Actually you have made a major point right here because that's exactly what will happen if these moves don't work out the way everyone expects. But that's always been so except in the case of the last 7 years around here where it has been the head coach who gets the blame while the GM gets extolled as one of the league's greatest. All you have to do is to look at the outpouring of love for SF3 to understand just how selective folks' memories can be. But it's all good right now - there is a buzz and excitement around here that has been missing for years now and I like seeing that.
You must be smoking something strong. David West is a phenomenal young talent. Seriously, what are you smoking?
How are you so sure? I haven't ready anything confirming so. I mean, it makes perfect sense, but where are these rumors coming from?
