Would it be very very very......devilish of me to suggest you can tell who the long time NBA fans are and who the johnny-come-lately Yao fans are, simply by reading this thread?

It is kind of ridiculous that any comment made about Yao Ming is front page news.

Let's see. You are 25, don't have a clue who John Havlicek is and have the write like you live in an AOL chat room.

    Clutch, toss this fool!

Don't you just love these softball questions? You just keep servin' 'em up, and we'll keep on knocking 'em outta the park... too easy, too fun... "burlesk, just what exactly do you think it is that makes you so SEXY?"
"Well, Kelly, where do I begin?..."

No, Russell certainly didn't win those rings by himself, not even as much as some try to say that Dream did. Havlicek was as deadly of a clutch competitor as they come, night in and night out. Do you hear people calling Russell the greatest player ever, even though he won the most rings?

I have never even LIKED the Celtics, but I've ALWAYS liked and respected Hondo. Scrappy little blankety blanker...

It would be sad to see you get tossed just for being ignorant, Monique, but being ignorant with so much attitude about it is a little hard to take, despite the smilies. You gave me a chance to remember how amazing Hondo could be, though, so it wasn't a total loss... Is there a Basketball 101 forum you could post that goofy stuff on? There are too many basketball PhDs here for that (myself not included -- I'm maybe in my third year of b-ball college)... you can't assume because you haven't heard of someone mentioned here that they're not important...

Now, your homework for next week: Imagine it's 2040, and someone says to you "Francis? I've never heard of her, did she play in the WNBA?" Discuss. Class dismissed.

yeah, the all time leading scorer for the Celtics franchise must be a scrub, they've never had any good players.

not to mention the fact that he won 2 rings without Russell.

basically, you've never heard about him because you don't know history.

You guys are taking it way out of line. Do you expect every fan to be an NBA historian to qualify for a fan? Do you need to remember the name of every player in the hall of fame to even post in this thread?

The 9 consesutive championships by Celtics look overrated. Teams must not be competitive for one team to win 9 in a row. I will be more impressed any this year's champion. There are around 7-8 teams who are legitimate contenders!

yeah, but the post was obviously a joke (or prank if you may), If one wants to know who Havlicek is, it is easy enough to find even on NBA.com.
Speaking of contenders today, I really wish Sac will have a chance to win at least twice before the team is gone... And maybe one for Don Nelson before he's dead.. :D :D

You get a pass on Connie Hawkins, Dave Bing, Bob Pettit, or Hal Greer, but you shouldn't get a pass on Havlicek.
