I have stated for you SEVERAL times that obviously what I was trying to explain a page ago had nothing to do with white or black pride. It had nothing to do with pride in ones race at all. I wasn't exactly sure exactly what I was trying to say but that I thought perhaps it had to do with the way races relate to each other and my disdain for political correctness. I don't know if I can make it any more clear to you. IT IS NOT ABOUT RACIAL PRIDE. Get it now??
no...? how can you say that you're not exactly sure of what you're trying to say and then say you can't make it any more clear? I honestly don't know what you're trying to say, but I think it's clear that what you said early goes to the counterpoint that I made. Comparing black pride with white pride and saying that they should be regarded on similar terms is oversimplification.
I may not have known what I was trying to say but I sure as hell know that it isn't about racial pride. I was making it clear to you that it is not about racial pride. Is it really that confusing?
So its not about worrying about Hispanics its about Muslims immigrants taking over. This is the first I've heard that Muslims were overrunning the US. I guess that wall we're going to be building on the border is to keep the Muslims out.
Religioius affiliations aside, do you want the US to become France? Are some of the demands that we are seeing from the illegal immigrants here not realistic precursors to the more serious problems we've seen in France?
No because I haven't heard any demands from illegal immigrants other than they be allowed to work and not get deported. The problem with France is legal immigrants who don't have jobs or education and are treated like second class citizens and French youth who don't want to work.
The problems in France are NOT from illegal immigrants, they're mostly from second and third generation French North Africans who're being treated as second class citizens and are heavily discriminated against.
That was nicely done. It is great to see that, and I wish more reactionaries who taut the 'threat' we face would read that.
There are numerous differences. Some already mentioned that it isn't from illegal immigration in France. In France you have a group of 2nd generation legal French citizens who basically are segregated and not allowed to assimilate. In the U.S. you have a group of illegal immigrants who want to be a part of the nation that many of them are already contributing to. You don't have the U.S. keeping measures in place to prevent people from assimilating. It is two very different problems.
Very true. The issue of "white pride," came up. I don't get it, either. I do get "tribal pride," among "white people." A very nebulous term. Who's to say who's "white," and who's not? Beige would be more accurate for a lot of us, although I used to date a redhead, who was red all over, lol, and she stayed out of the sun as much as she could (freckles... if she had a lot of sun, they multiplied like mad!). She was as "white" as I've seen, I suppose, having been, "up close, and personal," with those areas the sun never reached. With regard to "whites," aren't those that are self-described as such really descendants, or actual parts of, in the case of Europe, white tribes, with very discernable characteristics? Having spent a lot of time on "the Continent," I've always found it cool how different those tribes looked, from country to country, with different countries having their own "subsets" of tribes, like the Scots and Welsh in Britain. It gets to be, after you've been there (Europe) for months at a stretch, traveling in different countries, that you can tell where a person is from when they are traveling outside of their own home country. An inexact science, to be sure. Several times people thought I was English. Must have been the Texas accent. Anyone else find that fascinating? I'm feeling tribal, lol! Keep D&D Civil.
The point of legal immigration is to control the numbers of immigrants and to some extent to control the quality of immigrants (eschewing crooks and thieves etc.). By throwing those controls by the wayside, the US has lost control over the process. When you've lost control over the process, the quality of life will degrade. Why will the second generation of these illegal immigrants not meet the same fate as the second generation immigrants in France? If the situation in Mexico were even decent, would all these Mexicans be coming here? "Running from" and "running to" are very different dynamics. How are you so sure that you are not over-stating the desire of these illegal immigrants to "be a part of the nation" other than getting a steady paycheck?
Let's see, there were slow boats from China and Japan and even Europe and there are how many illegal Mexicans trodding into the US under the cover of a single night now? And, al always, let's emphasize the word "illegal."
If they are second generation, they aren't illegal immigrants. They are U.S. citizens. They were born in the U.S. As has been said before the whole mess about speaking English is way overblown. In most cases people learn English. There are some first generation immigrants who never do learn English. Too bad for them, but it doesn't hurt me. In almost all cases their children grow up speaking English. They are part of the nation they were born in, grew up in, and went to school in. It isn't a problem. The immigrants in France who are meeting the most problems, aren't illegal immigrants of any generation. There were parents were immigrants(most likely legal ones) who setteled in France. They were born in France. Yet there is no effort made by the French govt. or many of its citizens to help them assimilate. They are kept apart, kept from employment, and especially kept from quality employment. They speak French, went to school in France, but are still kept apart. Obviously they are going to feel frustrated. In the U.S. many of the illegal immigrants are working. They are building houses, cleaning hotels, office buildings, homes, growing food, harvesting food, making our textiles, in large numbers. Others are doing various varieties of other jobs. I am not advocating the U.S. throw out quality control when allowing immigrants. I am against illegal immigration. As I have said befor, I am in the middle on the issue. I understand that many illegal immigrants are working and contributing to society, and would like to be recognized for what they do. I don't fault them for that. However, I don't think that they should be rewarded before people who have been waiting to go through the legal channels. My ideal plan would be to speed up those waiting to get in, whilte giving work visas to the illegal immigrants, and then after doing the background checks, checking employment records etc. Allow them to go through the newly expidited immigration process.
