What kinda take is this? You’re saying he shouldn’t be unanimous because his other good players were out? If curry had his exact same season when he got it but klay and draymond played no games is HE less deserving? Jeezes
His team won 48 games. Hard to make a case that everyone should unanimously agree that he's the MVP when he didn't even lead his team to HCA in the first round. I do think he has the best MVP case, but I get why others might see it differently.
You mean if Curry's team went 73-9 but Klay and Draymond were out for the whole season? He'd be even more deserving. I'm saying, there is precedence for a unanimous vote for MVP. And the precedence for a unanimous MVP was a historic/near-historic season for both player and team. To that point, Jokic was historic this season, but a team that goes 48-34 is nothing to write home about. That's why I said, if Jokic's team eked out more wins, then he'd have more of a case for unanimous MVP. Because, then, you'd have nothing against him, with which to argue.
No, i mean if curry's team went 50-32 or whatever without klay/green. Obviously they don't win 73 without those guys. Jokic HAS NO TEAM. Does that denver team even win 20 games without him? They don't have a single other top 50 player on their team, they are garbage.
His team winning 48 games is a MASSIVE credit to him. The bucks only won 3 more games then Denver, how many would they have won if middleton and holiday played zero games?
Conversely, does Philly win even 20 games without Embiid, pre-Harden? For reference, they were 4-8 when he didn't play, pre-Harden. Nuggets were 2-5 without Jokic in the lineup. Small sample size for both situations. I suppose another argument for unanimous MVP is, if you're great but your team isn't, you have to be head and shoulders above every other player in the NBA that's also vying for the same award. Is Jokic in a tier by himself with Embiid, Giannis, Doncic, Booker, etc all in a tier below him? I personally don't think so. Should Jokic be MVP? Yes. Should Jokic be unanimous MVP? No. Should anyone else but Jokic be MVP? No, but you can at least make a solid argument as to why so-and-so could be MVP. And that is a big reason why Jokic isn't going to be unanimous.
Some voters may care more about actual results, and that's fine. He's still a deserving MVP, even if others may think another player deserves it more. I wouldn't get hung up on whether it ends up being unanimous or not. The usual criteria that goes into determining an MVP aren't all 100% lining up in his favor. Not a big deal.
He won’t be unanimous for sure because enough people don’t want to vote for him. There is no case for anyone else that is based on anything that has to do with the player. He was number 1 in EVERY metric.
That’s fair, it’s just irritating to me. I don’t like seeing stuff like iverson mvp, derek jeter gold gloves so i think voters should be held accountable when they have an asinine vote
Last game was my 1st time watching him an entire game, and I was saying the same thing, his footwork is amazing. I surprised you have not been banned yet.
Deservedly so. It's just unfortunate that he's probably going to get clowned on for being a 2x MVP who's going to get swept out of the first round.
Um, how is that swinging? I just don't understand how Embid can be blamed for anything concerning Simmons, after seeing how Simmons has acted through all of this I surprised he only said what he actually said, and it took him that long to say anything that could be construed as negative.
last year Jokic won MVP and got swept in the 2nd round this year, MVP and liable to get swept in round 1 Next year, MVP and doesn’t even make the playoffs?
Should always keep your dirty laundry behind closed doors. Have to stay professional. Lie through your teeth if you have to. If you don't, you'd be at odds with the whole "NBA is a brotherhood" angle. KD handled the Harden situation perfectly - instead of bemoaning how Harden should have just stayed the course instead of forcing his way out, he acknowledged that Harden had his reasons. If you have a problem with a co-worker, there are other, more private methods of resolving the issue. You shouldn't send a company-wide memo detailing your grievances with the co-worker. What Doc and Embiid did, didn't help the situation...it made it worse.
this is such nonsense. A good amount of the league at the end of the day are close but without a doubt not everyone has to like each other and that's perfectly fine. Simmons did everything to himself. Embiid has done absolutely nothing wrong. He didn't say anything, everyone in the world didn't already know. If anything Simmons cost him playoff runs that embiid went all out for. Simmons turned his back against the team and did nothing for years to even work on his game. Dude's a bum who has an ego problem that's finally caught up to him cause he always thought he was better than he actually is. Do you have this same brotherhood angle for Bev and westbrick?
