Sorry this one will seem wild and unrealistic at first but let it sit. This summer Fred and Dillon match his money and should be more than enough value given his injury and contract situation. Can’t imagine Philly having a better alternative. no picks, no young players Take the training wheels off and make the young guys get to the playoffs on their own. Joels about to turn 31, his only job would be to get his body right and wind down his career as a sort of Brook Lopez with a playoff **** you button. His player option for 27’/ 28’ + extensions for all the young guys will be ridiculous but Fertitta’s said they were willing to endure some pain to win a championship. All pending good talks with Joel and doctors of course. It’s good hoops, going in a different direction as rest of league. I think any thought that Embiid/Sengun couldn’t coexist are just misguided.
I respectfully disagree, strawberry product brother. Tying championship hopes to Joel Embiid's health is not a good idea. The guy's a glass cannon.
Wouldn’t touch with a 1000 foot pole. I mean, if we’re gonna trade for an oft-injured, rarely available big man, go get Zion. I don’t want either.
I’m not sure I agree, I just think it’s intriguing. Would definitely be risky, needing the stars to align at the right time.
He also said that before he dumped key players from a title contending team to save on luxury tax. The scam goes like: we just didn't feel there was anyone worth paying the LT for, but otherwise we would have done it. lol
Embiid a bad idea imo. I believe he can be a solid player if he gets traded somewhere and feels rejuvenated and loves the coach, but I don't believe in his ego accepting a lesser role. I think he's not there yet. I don't think his value is low enough to justify the risk we'd be taking. Maybe next summer he will be more ok with being a rich man's Brook Lopez but I don't see it right now. It also wouldn't be worth $60m per season.
Yall are thinking about injury prone and bad contracts in a context of a team that needs them to be healthy to win regular season games. That’s not the Rockets situation.
These are people I don't want on my team Embiid Kawhi PG13 Injuries plus ridiculous contracts Rocket River Zion . .. i'm still iffy on but leaning more toward Nah
"no picks, no young players" for a recent MVP? And we're going to do this with Daryl Morey pretty much calling the shots in Philly?
I understand conventional thinking. Rockets have a rare setup tho. They don’t need regular season help, they can still extend their own guys without the financial flexibility. They need a bucket at the the right time, everyone will know this in 2 months.
He’s broken at the moment, will be out at least most of 2025-26.’ Most consider his contract negative value. Some think he won’t play again.
KD and Harden are better options People b*tch about Harden's playoff Resume Embiid's is worse IMO I watched them in Philly Harden was there to help Embiid instead it felt like the expectation was for Embiid to help Harden I cannot say I trust Embiid more in the playoffs than Sengun Rocket River
I like Morey But as a GM his record has taken some shots in the last few years HOWEVER I will say because he stepped into a crap situation (which he himself picked) He had to rebuild around 2 broken Players Simmons and Embiid He got some value for Simmons will get NONE for Embiid His WIN NOW Mode made him give PG13 an INSANE contract Rocket River
more expensive in trade, less developmental minutes. Joel would be 33 when all our young guys are hitting their mid 20s, those dudes will be 40.
