Thanks. I will look it up. He seems to sometimes be brutally and maybe to a fault . . . too honest, at least for some folx. Rocket River
I saw Carter's comments that Wilson's outburst was based on racism. While Wilson might be a racist I'm not sure this particular outburst had anything to do with racism.
I'm not sure if the comment was, but I don't doubt that at least part of the lack of respect Wilson showed in shouting out during the speech comes from race. I don't think he would have made the same outburst to a white President. There is never any way to really know.
That's why I said "he might be a racist" but there might be other reasons that he joined, to get ahead politically for business connections, or he just actually might be plain ignorant about the nature of the organization. My point though is that I don't think that Wilson's out burst was racially motivated and disagree with Carter on his take.
aaahhh the ambiguity of 'might' Racist live there they are comfortable there they play the grey "You cannot prove or disprove i am a racist so . . you MUST give me the benefit of the doubt. . . that I am not. . . . . I *MIGHT* just be ignorant . .. I *MIGHT* just be an opportunist . . I *MIGHT* just be stupid . .. none of those make me racist. . . . Even if i repeated for things that are racist . . .because they maybe just the acts of a stupid or ignorant person" - THE RACIST CREDO 2009
It is always kosher to call a white man a racist. Even if they say they aren't, reasonable people can always still say they are they just hide it. One thing I learned from Clutchfans is that all white people are racist, and everytime they criticize someone that isn't white they prove it.
There is no jumping to conclusions. Joe Wilson has a history -- Joe Wilson a member of neo-Confederate SCV, fought to keep Dixie flag flying in South Carolina Rep. Wilson Also Had To Apologize After Attacking Strom Thurmond's Illegitimate Daughter
Do you believe that Wilson would be as comfortable giving that same level of disrespect to white president as he did showing that disrespect for Obama?
Nobody does. However, I have a hard time believing Wilson would shout out that the President was a liar if John Kerry, or even Al Gore were president giving the same speech. He might think it, and he might say it afterward, but I doubt he would interrupt the speech in that manner. That kind of thing happens all the time. Even when there are black guests on political talk shows, the commentators slap them on the back in a jovial manner in ways they would never do to white guests. It isn't mean spirited when they do those things, but race has lead them to more quickly drop the formality of the situation.
When someone joins a group that is fundamentally racist it means they are either racist, ok with being known as a racist or incredibly stupid. I don't know Joe Wilson but I doubt he is incredibly stupid so that leaves us with him being fine with being known as a racist and/or that he is, in fact, a racist.
