Huh? Elway, Davis, and Rice all did participate. I remember each of them having their names called and walking on the field. The only three that didn't appear were Montana, Bradshaw, and that other guy.

Whatever the heck they wanna do with their time. If I have won 4 superbowls and probably attended countless others, I'm not sure one in Detroit showcasing Pitt & Seattle will make my year.

Even if they're wanting to honor some of your highest career accomplishments?

They're greedy bastards, plain and simple. My view of both of them has been completely altered. Everyone makes decisions in their lives and that's their perogative. Just like it's my perogative to decide how I feel about their decisions.

    Yes.

I am not saying asking for $100K wasn't greedy....just why get pissed about what that man chooses to do with his free time.

If he doesn't want to go, fine.

He asked for $100,000. That's greed.

I don't think anyone's pissed necessarily. It just shows what guys like Montana and Bradshaw are all about. I'm not a big fan of greedy bastards.

I think the NFL is trying to come up with some relatively low cost time filler and assume most of these guys will do it for 1000 bucks and feed their egos. $1000 is chump change to most of the recent winners. 100 k does seem greedy, but $1000 is also kindof a slap in the face. the NFL makes about a gazillion dollars in TV money.

I don't blame them... I wish I would have demanded 100k to watch that so called "game."

I'm all about athletes getting paid, but the only reason montana and the rest of those mvp's can charge for their appearance is the NFL. So pay a little respect to the institution that made you a millionaire. that's all.

nobody's asking him to toss the old pigskin around. its a celebration celebrating montana and the rest of those guys.

    on a side note,

montana was on the rome show last season and said his son was a pretty good baller.

Who would have thought you could put Terry Bradshaw, Michael Vick, Joe Montana and Steve Francis in a room and say only one of those guys has been to the Super Bowl in the past 10 years.

    Imagine a continiuum.

On one end of the continiuum: Joe Montana giving a speech to Intel Corporation, some blah-blah speech about personal leadership. Let's call this a 1.

On the other end of the continiuum: Joe Montana's induction ceremony, in Canton, to the Hall of Fame. Let's call this a 10.

    <<<--1 (Intel Speech) ----- X ------------ 10 (Hall of Fame Induction) >>>>

Now, I could understand why Montana would charge $100k for the Intel speech. The man's time isn't free. He's lending his brand to a client.

But would anyone, anyone, ANYONE?, think the NFL should pay him $100k for his own induction ceremony?

In my book, the Superbowl MVP Assembly is probably an 8, at least a 7. It's about honoring the legends. Paying a tribute. Bringing together the NFL's past and the NFL's present.

Charging a fee is a disgrace.

This from a long, long, longtime Joe Montana fan.

    I'm appalled.
