At the last few milliseconds, Mays intentionally moves his head DOWN. Clearly, there is no intent to tackle, only spear and hit hard as per fundamentals of the tackling techniques. While hitting is part of the game and tackling is, too, it is not permitted to hit the way he did.

I dont get it, why people are defending Mays.

He never used his hands, he could have just pushed Schaub with his hands, and Schaub would be on the ground.

He could perfectly grabbed Schaub and take him to the ground, but no, he launched with his head.

He should've been suspended at least two games. Imo, he got off easy. I bet if Payton Manning got hit like that, his career would've been done.

No kidding, Peyton barely hit his head on the ground on a tackle by Cushing and he was putting his hands to his head, and was on the sideline all red faced. A Mays type of hit on Peyton and we would be more vilified by Espn, and Peyton could have/ likely would have been permanently injured.

Great clip Swolly. Very clear from that what the intention was. Very clear the timing. Very clear Mays had the opportunity to run by when the ball was already gone...or at least wrap up and make some attempt to get to the QB's arms. No one can make an excuse for this kind of play except neanderthals.

I agree with the suspension. And I think it should have been longer. There's no difference in a QB being hit like this and a punter being laid out when the ball has already left his toe. These guys are too big, too strong, and too fast to be allowed to hit a QB like that in a place where the QB has no chance to defend himself or brace for the hit. It has to be stopped. Mays had plenty of time to realize what was happening and change his course. The ball was gone. They've got to lay off in that situation.

So true. My biggest issue with packer uncle gregory is that when Junior seau was lost, he spent days on how the NFL did not do enough to warn the players. And now when someone clearly leads with the helmet and gets fined for it, his response is..that the game is wussified.
In last night's game, both flacco and weeden took spectacularly violent hits, but they were legal.
