I agree. We're all going to shake our heads and say i told you so because of a san antonio writer's interpretation of his body language? At least wait until he complains in the media or something.

Why is he a dumbass? Cus he didnt want to be a role player that he was in PHX? He may be feeling bad about joining the Hawks right now but in a few years they are gonna make some noise. He gets the same amount of cash he wouldve got in PHX, plus gets to be the leader of a young, up and coming team. He probably didnt expect them to be as bad as they are, but every team (see rockets) needs some time to grow together.

I agree that there is an element of amateur psychiatry in that article, but the contrast between the successes Diaw and Johnson have had in Phoenix and their struggles in Atlanta is interesting nonetheless. It speaks volumes about how important organizations are in winning and keeping players happy (as well as how easy it is to play with Steve Nash.)

IMO, the Hawks organization and Hawks fans were so starved for action over the summer that even a reckless move like forking over Diaw and picks for the privilege making JJ the highest-paid player in the NBA seemed like a good idea.

Diaw is essentially a younger Joe Johnson without the jumpshot, and in Atlanta he had similar problems that Joe did earlier in his career (for instance, he wasn't agressive enough, and wasn't used to playing point-guard full time.) Now that he's asserting himself playing with Nash and Marion, he doesn't look bad at all.

    Johnson has a fine line at 18.7PPG, 4.6APG, 4RPG on 44% shooting.
His 3% and TO numbers are drastically different with Nash, it does look that way.

Interesting Q's numbers have fallen off really badly with New York.

I still think Johnson is a fine player with close to all-star potential.

My guy Salim Stoudamire is have no problems with shooting (47%) or the pro 3 point line (42%) as I predicted. Head has been a pleasant surprise as well however, so I don't feel as bad about missing out on Stoudamire.

Atlanta is super young and has no interior presence--I wouldn't mind getting a young swingman off them however.

Reminds me of Shawn Kemp. Left a great situation for cash. Pretty much spent the rest of his life sucking.

I was thinking Marbury. Great 1-2 punch with KG in Minn when both were still young. Gave it all up so he could have the spotlight and broke up something special in Minn.

I don't think it's fair comparing JJ to Kemp. Kemp had serious off the court problems and became a fat tub of lard once he left Seattle. JJ's best years are still ahead of him. He may not be worth his contract but he won't flame out in 2-3 years like Kemp.

The problem with that team is that they have too many other players like Joe Johnson.
You can't win with 5 small forwards vs a team with 2 guards, 2 forwards, and a Center.

Exactly. Another example of how the media controls perception. The snowball effect: one writer puts it in print, three other people repeat it, thousands follow....

Example #431,456,987 that money doesn't buy happiness. It can buy a lotta p***y and enough bling to blind Jesus, but it can't make you happy.

I fail to see what in that article proves that Joe Johnson is unhappy in Atlanta.

The man making the $20 million a year is successful, achomplished, living the finiest of fine lives in a great American city. He is part of the aristocratic elite in Atlanta. The Dumb, Dumb, Dumbass, too Dumb for words, brains made of turds fools are the management team that traded two number one picks, Boris Diaw, and are paying him $20 million per year to duplicate and recreate what he and Steve Nash did in Phoniex. . $20 million a year for Steve Nash is a bargain, he is great and makes others All Stars. Joe Johnson was one of the cast that Nash made effectivre, without Nash he is Joe Johnston who couldn't play for the Celtics.
