Oh noes. That's the article before the draft where Bobby Brown said his translator claimed Zhou is 24-25 years old (last year). Maybe Morey promised Brown a contract if he started that rumor, so Zhou would slip in the draft. "Bobby, just tell people your translator said that. Sauces."

"ESPN Shanghai Bureau: Local Man says Zhou Qi is 24-25 yrs old."

Does NOT deserve it's own thread. Plz

Biggest question mark for Qi is not skills or weight, it is mentality, aggressiveness and love for the game. That should be the question for any Chinese player coming to the NBA. The few times I've watched the CNT or CBA those guys looked like they were sleep walking, didn't care at all, zero passion, played like robots. Think Yi Jianlian. Most of these guys were hand picked from a young age to train because they were tall, not because they loved the game, and it shows. With Yao, the reason why he succeeded wasn't just because he was tall and skilled, he also had heart. I'm not sure if it was love of the game, or love for him country where he was carrying the weight of all his people on his back. Whatever the case, he had passion and the American culture even brought out a mean streak in him.

With Qi I have no idea what his personality, we will find out. Because his personality is what will determine his success or failure in the NBA. Looking at skill set and physique, he is exactly in the mold of Prizingis. And the fact that his light weight is his weakness means he has very good upside, because gaining weight is a hell of a lot easier than gaining skill.

He was kinda mentally weak... in case you would all be pissed in the near future.

    But the potential is there.

Wow, if he dropped in the draft because of age rumors then the Rockets absolutely got a steal, because his age is legit. The CBA has an age minimum of 18 yo. Zhou went pro and signed with the CBA 3 years ago(21 now), before that he played with the junior teams. Makes no sense to hold him back just to fake his age. Look up any of these Chinese players, Yao, Wang Zhizhi, Sun yue etc etc, they all started their CBA career at 18 years old. This narrative that Chinese player's ages are widely questioned doesn't exist. The ONLY questionable age was Yi Jianlian, because his age was actually fake. If you look up the year he joined the CBA, he would've been 15 if his age is real, which is impossible.
