I love the Dropkick Murphys and play their music but “Shipping up to Boston” is way too overplayed. It’s also been used by GOP politicians such as Scott Walker, note members of the band told him not to use it. I was talking to some of my band members last night that whe I heard Biden had come to stage to Irish Rock music I hoped it was “Zombie” by the Cranberries FYI that is a song about he Troubles and actually would be fitting for his speech in Belfast about the Good Friday Treaty.
My guess is Biden is more of a Van Morrison and Donovan guy. Part of the reason why I wanted them to play “Zombie” for Biden is to then hear him talk about how great Sinead O’Connor is. “Hey Jack! What a great song by Sinead O’Connor.. love her hair or no hair!”
