I've seen some really videos about how desalination plants can use the salt water waste to be repurposed for lithium batteries. Smarter people than me can probably explain the science behind it, but I know that its a real thing that helps with the lithium battery needs coming in the future. I'm not a fortune reader or anything but I'm pretty sure that the West Coast is likely to rely heavily on water desalination plants to supplement their water supply in the future like the Saudi's and UAE are already relying on.
