I'm pretty sure I don't. Unless "very" long hours means 20 or so and "below market wages" means around $10/hr. That's all I need or want at this point.
Congrats on the move, RM95. A plus to going to UH main campus is Frenchy's. Don't know if you've ever eaten there, but let us treat you to some chicken when you are down here. Anyway, houstonemployment.com and chron.com are you're best online sources for part-time employment. Good luck.
Thanks coma! I've never eaten there, but I've heard enough stories on here for me to salivate! Jeff, e-mail dropped. drapg, I can't e-mail you through the board. Shoot me one at blake@corp.swirve.com Thanks.
The current intern has 3 years of investment banking experience and a year of b-school under his belt.
Position requires: * ambition * energy * obedience This junior position does not require previous experience. Position could lead to more permanent work.
What do you do for Gardere? What type of legal work would you be looking for? I've got 5 or 6 lawyer buddies who may be able to help ya out.
I know someone who is looking to crack into the financial world. She has an M.I.S. degree from U.H. and limited experience. But she's a quick learner and willing to work hard. The only reason I'm even bringing it up is because she's in as dire straits as I was last year. Since this is an internship position, I thought she might be of service (even with little background). If so let me know and I'll get her to send you her resume. . . . RM95... I'll do it now.
Very funny, B-Bob. I no longer live life on "the dark side". I left investment banking for greener pastures. ...physics profs....
RM95: I emailed you because I have a lead for you. My email has been really odd today, so let me know if you haven't gotten it yet.
I guess I should really post a caveat before I ever talk about the dark side. I probably dispense more pain and suffering than anyone. Yes, from the profession that brought you atomic fission and incredibly stressful college weed-out classes, ... we bring you... the Dork Side. "Join me, Luke ... I am your principle investigator!"
Jeff, thanks and I've responded. You rule. Buck, basically I've been a case clerk for all the years I've been working in law firms. Thanks.
Dude I have the answer to all your problems: A bartender at Little Woodrows!! Think about the possibilities..... Oh yeah and move back to Austin damnit!!
RM 95, I just want to say that reading your posts I believe if you are devoid of responsibility... ie children... then I would pursue a career where you can demonstrate your swollen arsenal of wit. Radio, Film, Writing, Creative consulting.... I know law is a method of this exercise but you seem to have a knack for translating wit onto typed page. There are alot of witty minds out there but not too many who can consistently portray that through the media of the typed word. Believe me I understand the rent must be handed over, and as I recall you are married, but if at all possible I would spend the hours you are not making the rent on more creative and eventually more lucrative pursuits. Take it from someone who is unqualifiably confident... you have talent me laddie. That's why music man Jeff is so interested in hooking you up
Well, thanks LeGrouper, but this is just for a second job. I have an awesome, well-paying job, I just got a little too loose with the credit cards in college! And no, I'm not married. Hence the move to Houston.
